Cookies for Pups: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

Don't be fooled. Although, at first glance, they may look like your midmorning snack, these "yums" are actually for the dogs. The cute Halloween cookies above are almost $3 a pop, a steep price for something North can devour in three seconds flat. But then again, I've seen more pet bakeries, barkeries, and paw-tisseries popping up all over the place, and even my local pet shops are starting to stock gourmet animal treats that look like my treats. What's your take on fancy-looking foods like pet cookies and pupcakes – are they an absolute necessity or an extravagant luxury?

I have seen cookies like this in my area. They are rather cute, and my Sheltie has had one every blue moon. Shelties are true treat monsters. She only will get it when she has been especially good. They are pricey so I don't buy them often.

While those treats are cute, I would not feed them to my dogs because they contain a lot of sugar and artificial food coloring. And holy moly are they overpriced! There are many more healthy alternatives out there. I make my own treats at home.

I just like to cook so I don't see anything wrong with making treats for my pets sometimes. Though the details are a little much on those cookies.

I used to get these...but they're expensive and the dogs don't seem to care...I don't think it's worth it. If they went crazy, I'd feel different, but they treat the "special" bakery treats like any other...

I got my dog some Halloween treats very much like those but they were only 40 cents each!

My Roxy is not a picky eater. Hell, I've seen her eat poo. Therefore, it's the big bag of random cookies from PetCo for her!

i prefer to make my own pet treats, but i guess these are nice if it is a special occasion.

I can barely afford to get stuff like that for my kids, I'm not going to be getting it for my pet.

I have to say I LOVE the gourmet bakery treats. I work at a local gourmet pet bakery and we make EVERYTHING with all human grade ingrediants and have many times had to tell people walking in or calling that no, this isn't a human cookie shop and no we don't do human wedding cakes, but do plenty of doggie birthday/other holiday cakes. My pups LOVE the gourmet cookies and cakes we do and often snub their noses at other typical dog treats. I've often had to get onto them for sticking their noses in the cooling rack where some fresh treats have come out of the oven! haha

I can't make fun of these because i home make Elvis's trats... nothing but the best. just more often then not there are empty calories in these treats (plus the yougurt covered ones tend to give Elvis the trots haha)HOWEVER i still theink these guys are cuties

Maybe on her birthday! I love to spoil her but the treats I buy are more reasonably priced.

I'm sure she would love them - but I wouldn't buy them - I got her Easter cookies that looked like that when they were 50% and she ate them right up.

For my sister's basset hound, any treat that gets him to eat something inedible--shoelaces, belts, or aluminum wrappers--is a worthy thing!

Seems steep- I don't think I'd pay $3 for a cookie for myself! But, I have been known to grab a bag and snatch a few of the gourmet treats from the "treat bar" at PetCo for my little Brando. So, while I think it's silly, I will still spoil my pet with the more reasonably priced stuff :)

For special occasions I am all for giving special treats even if they are a little more expensive then I would like :) My dogs deserve a trick or treat too ;)
