Catscaping: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

Now we've all heard of landscaping and (most) of manscaping, but who out there has heard of catscaping?!

Certainly not me . . . until one of my Twitter pals (muddypawstudio), pointed out a Boston-area groomer who offers such services. It seems this cut — called "king-of-the-jungle" — rings in at $65 for a very unlucky kitty visiting Pet Spa. Are you shocked or awed by the lion look?

My Maine Coon Cat gets matted fur on his belly every spring from going outside and getting all that super fine belly hair wet. I can mostly brush him out myself until he gets mad at me and starts biting the brush or he'll shed them out on his own. One year he was so bad I took him to the groomer to get a lion cut and they called me at work to let me know they could comb him out. I said fine figuring I'd spare him some embarrassment. Later when I picked him up he looked beautiful and the price had jumped from $50 to $115. Then, on the way home, he peed all over himself because he hates riding in the car ruining his bath and fresh new hairstyle. Needless to say, next time he is getting the lion cut. I think he would look super cute with that cut anyway. :p

It gets really hot here in the south in the summer, so it's pretty common to see long haired dogs with the "lion cut". I think it looks hilarious!

Long-haired kitties really do benefit from a shaved underbelly sometimes. I did that to my old kitty Kramer. It was hilarious.

I love the Lion cut! makes me wish one of my 5 kitties had long hair.

My grandparents do this to their cat (a Maine Coon) during the summer because she gets so hot (too much fur for 100 degree weather!).

I wasn't really sure how to answer the poll question, but my cat, Dexter (also big and yellow and fluffy) got the Lion Cut when he had too many matts to deal with at the end of winter. It was pretty hilarious when he started chasing our dog around the lawn - he really did look like a mini-Lion!
