What's more fun than a barrel of monkeys? A bucket of sloths! Warning: this may be just about the cutest thing you've seen all day. And if you become completely smitten with these lovable cuties after watching, you can purchase a book filled with sweet snaps of these sloths, which also supports the world's first sloth orphanage.

Someone Wants to Wish You a Slobbery, Happy Veterans Day
With Veterans Day falling this Sunday and the holidays soon to follow, I can't help but be reminded of the thousands of soldiers who keep our nation safe. While some of these courageous individuals will be spending the next few months on active duty, some will be coming home to loving families, including their adoring pets. There is a close relationship between dogs and the military: canines serve alongside soldiers overseas and provide comfort and support to veterans when they finish their last tours. But the crowning moment for a pooch is seeing his heroic pet parent walk through the front door.
Whether you and your pet have a brave soldier in your family or you're just honored to know that these women and men are protecting our great country, here's a sweet salute to all the soldiers and veterans and the dogs who love them.

Prepare For the Great Kitten Blowout
Perhaps I wasn't vocal enough about my love for Animal Planet's ode to all things small and fuzzy, Too Cute, so let me be clear: it's the awww-somest hour you can spend with your television. Take this clip, for example, of Reginald the long-haired Persian kitten being introduced to the world of bathing and Pantene-commercial-worthy blow-drying:
And if that's not life-changing enough, I introduce to you Pipsqueak, the baby goat whose random acts of head-butting and spaz-tastic hopping prove to be too much for a litter of Jack Russell pups.
You're welcome!
This Rescue Cat Ain't Monkeying Around
We all know the effect that a baby white-handed gibbon can have on the ol' heartstrings (tug, tug . . . YANK, YANK, YANK!), but there are some moments when even such an icon of awww-someness just takes it too far. This is one of those moments for Chuck, the resident rescue cat at the Monkey Island Rescue and Sanctuary. Her quiet pose may imply zen-like tolerance, but that facial expression and swish-swish-swish of her tail just say it all.
Goat Thanks His Lucky Stars . . . and a Snout-Hearted Hero!
It was a tense moment at the petting zoo last week: while crossing a pond, a baby goat's foot became stuck underwater, and the poor horned one could only flail his legs and bleat for help. Fortunately, he need not fear for long because a good samaritan swooped in for the save, dislodging the goat's foot and guiding him to shore. Who was this lifeguarding hero? Check out this video for the answer!
Maru Heralds a New Domain in Shopping
I, for one, am a huge fan of Japanese retailer Uniqlo and its super-chic, reasonably priced denim and basics but have lamented the fact that I can get my hands on them in person only on my infrequent trips to New York (or out of the country). Apparently, my shopping god made nice with the Internet angels, because the brand is opening its West Coast flagship store here in my hometown of San Francisco on Oct. 5, and it's signed on YouTube star Maru as the spokesperson . . . and game-show host.
I'm already making room in my closet for a new Fall coat and a few pairs of skinny jeans, but frankly, I would shop at any store that allowed this cuddly celeb to pick out my prize.
I'll Scratch Your Back If You Scratch Mine
It seems as if our pets are always on the receiving end of any pampering treatments. But this kid has the right idea. It's time to take a stand against one-sided back-scratching and teach our pets how to reciprocate!
Wondering why Fido's leg shakes when you scratch certain spots? It's an involuntary reflex that occurs when you activate nerves that identify your scratching as an irritant. Your pooch automatically attempts to alleviate the "itch" even though you're the one doing both the itching and the scratching!
Jesse Schools the Rest of Us With Useful Tricks
This month, we're going back to school with our pets to learn training basics and more. But clearly some dogs are further ahead of the curve. Take Jack Russell terrier Jesse, for example, who sets the bar (and the table) for amazing doggie tricks . . . and keeps the house in order in the process!
Sawyer Moonwalks Across Foreign Territory
Poor Sawyer. Like many pooches, this Goldendoodle can't stand slippy-sliding his way across hardwood floors. So instead of fighting it, he's invented his own way of dealing with his archenemy.
If your pup has a hard time on slick surfaces in your home (this is especially true of older, arthritic dogs), throw him a bone and create a soft, nonskid pathway that allows him to navigate high-traffic areas. Try FLOR carpet tiles ($10 to $35 per tile), which allow you customize a slip-free highway through the house!
