A LilSugar reader recently asked for first pet suggestions for her four and a half year old, which got me thinking about how many couples I know who tried their hand at parenting with a pup or kitten before getting pregnant. While most of you don't think it's fair to compare pet parenting to baby parenting, I think it's fair to say one can help prepare you for the other. Did you train at doggy school before you went to childbirth classes?
Florida grapefruit juice is great on its own as a delicious, refreshing, and nutrient-dense beverage. But did you know it also is the perfect complement to your savory Summer dishes? Give this sassy spin to your typical barbecue sauce at your next cookout!

½ cup light molasses
½ cup (4 ounces) Florida grapefruit juice

In what may be my favorite scene of The Back-up Plan, Zoe's absolutely adorable disabled doggie snatches her pregnancy stick and holds on to it with his teeth while her fella waits outside the restroom. Though the situation is particularly comical (and dramatized), pet lovers are never strangers to embarrassing moments. So, I want to know: What's the most humiliating thing your pet has every done? (If it's extra embarrassing you can log out and leave your comment anonymously!)

PetSugar: When did you get your cats and what are their breeds?
BellaSugar: I adopted Minou on December 31, 2005. He was a wonderful way to bring in a new year. He's a tabby from the tough streets of Chicago. A few months later, wee Milo came along. He's a Munchkin, which is a breed with short legs. He definitely has a Napoleon complex.
PetSugar: What's your daily cat routine?
BellaSugar: Milo is my alarm clock. He saunters through the house around 6am, meowing until he wakes me. It's cute and annoying at the same time. Then both cats get on the bed and demand attention. The moment my feet hit the floor, they whine until they're fed. Then there is litter to be cleaned. It's very glamorous, all of it.
PetSugar: What's your cat’s favorite food, pastime, and treat?
BellaSugar: The boys' palates are not so sophisticated. They prefer dry food to wet, unlike most cats I've known. Sometimes they get crazy and have some tuna. Lately, they are obsessed with the mosquito hawks in the apartment. Minou chirps at them a lot, but both cats are not the most effective hunters.

I'm hoping to become a pet parent in the next few months. I haven't settled on a breed yet, though I adore Pomeranians, Boxers and American Eskimo Dogs (although I don't have room for an Eskimo dog at the moment). I've been thinking about names to build excitement and settled on one of the two below. I'm aiming for silly and fun. Which do you prefer?
Well, well, well, there's still time to get all cleaned up even if you put off your weekend chores like I did. In addition to the plethora of surprising cleansers found in the kitchen, there are even more in the bathroom and laundry room. In fact, I'll bet you have some already in there. Sop up this knowledge and start the slideshow.
