Sometimes taking that first step is the hardest one of all. Many small pooches often face the same internal struggle as little Murphy here — the desire to be outside vs. the big scary step/stair/doorway to get outside. 11My pup always has a hard time taking the leap outside. Since she was the first one of my dogs to have this problem, I thought it was just one of her little ticks (she's a rescue dog, so she's got em)
12I go through this every morning with our puppy when it is time to go downstairs to the kitchen. Once he gets down that first step, he gets on a roll, but he really doesn't like that first step.
