Gasp! I know I'm venturing into taboo territory but, if no one ever asked the hard questions, how would they get answered?! Operating on full disclosure (from an "only" of an "only"), as much as I'd like to think I wouldn't play favorites if I welcomed another pet into my family, I just don't know what would happen. Right off the bat, I'd worry little North would get so jealous that I'd come home to, well, one pup left standing. Since many of you have multiple "kids" of all kinds, and our polls are anonymous (phew!), I want to know how you handle this delicate situation.

I clicked "Other". // I only have Fuji. The one and only and the only one. =) I thought about getting another dog so Fuji wouldn't be so lonely but it seems like Fuji doesn't mind be the center of attention.
1we have three cats, "my" cat is Mooshi our 4 month old, My husbands cat is Oliver our munchkin and Gypsy is a free agent.
When we get home, mooshi gets in my lap and oliver gets in calebs. its wierd.
2i'm horrible - i have a favorite (my sheltie - pictured as my screen name). he's my first dog and the best little guy in the whole world. i spend ample time with my two aussies and my cat ... but there's a special place in my heart for my jack.
3We found one of our cats when she was just a couple of days old, and we raised her on a bottle and litter box-trained her and everything. I hate to admit it, but she's my favorite. She comes to say hi as soon as I walk in the door, and she still kneads and sucks on a blanket we have on our bed every morning -- but only if I'm in bed (not my hubby)! On the other hand, our other cat LOVES my hubby, and she is his favorite -- he openly admits it, too, even though he loves our other animals!
4Before we adopted Kona, our schnoodle puppy, I asked my husband "Do you think we'll love the cat any less?" Well, we've had Kona for almost four weeks now, and we are really growing to love him. But it is kind of funny how it has worked out. Garfield is 6 years old and such a laid back cat. I think having a crazy puppy around makes me apprecate Garfield even more. After the puppy is put in his crate for the night, Garfield will jump on the bed for some love, and my husband will say to him, "Oh Garfy, we do love you for your quiet aloofness."
I don't know if it will always be this way, but for the time being we certainly love the both
of them equally but for different reasons.
5I will admit that I have a favorite. I adopted another puggle a few months ago but the one I've had since she was a puppy will always be my favorite
6I'm definitely fickle. I tend to favor the cat who's paying attention to me at the time. In the bathroom or in bed, it's Franklin ("my" cat). On the couch, it's usually Marin ("his" cat). Either way, they both play favorites - it's me all the way.
When we get a dog (as soon as May), though, I think that will be his favorite and he will be its favorite.
7I felt so guilty when I brought Opal home, after having Cupid for two years as an only cat and knowing how clingy and needy he was. For almost a year, every time I told her I loved her, I felt obligated to add "...but not as much as Cupid". I love them both equally, but I love them most for entirely different reasons. Cupid is my soul mate - the pet version. We are connected on a deep, spiritual level so much that I can tell what he is thinking and can feel him enter the room. Opal is just the most perfect cat ever created, so that's why I love her.
But Cupid, will always be #1. I'm nothing if not fair, though.
8Hey- I can't help it if one of my cats turned out to be my pet-soulmate! Foxie + Chicago Forever
9I definitely have a favorite. Luckily I met my boyfriend and he favors the other dog, so it worked out perfectly.
10I was guilty of this when I lived at home haha.
We had two dogs - a rottie and beagle - and I played favs with the Rottie because he was more of a companion and listend WAY more. I still lvoe Taz though.
And my parent shave 8 cats - all of them are different though and want to be treated differently.
And now, I only have one kittie and she is beyond spoiled (you should see all her toys and treats!).
11We have 2 Westies and of course I LOVE them both so much, but I can't help but favor one a little more, he isn't the Alpha so I when I get home the other one has been hogging my mom most the day and my favorite is SO happy to see me.
12we truly have favorites in my house! with two cats, two dogs, and two humans, there is definitely enough love to go around but i am head over heels for my cat Midas and my dog Linus - they are more affectionate whereas my husband loves his shiba inu and talula the cat because they are 'free spirits' as he calls them.
we love them all but i favor two and my husband favors the other two!
13" And my parent shave 8 cats " - ashcwebb, do you realize you typed that?!? hahahahahah.
14We have three cats. Sam has been mine cat for years. My husband has two cats, one loves him and the other one is a free roamer and doesn't want much to do with either of us.
snort at ashcwebb's typing.
15If Lou is a bad dog I love Eddie more
If Eddie is a bad dog I love Lou more
If they are BOTH bad dogs, I love Puffy the fish more.
Actually I love them all the same. Gotta give them the same unconditional love they give me....When they are good.
