I can't speak to the stinky poo problem, but I can recommend Evo. My 12 year old cat has always howled for more food, so I had to keep the buffet open 24 hours a day to get some peace. My cat eats less since I switched to Evo. He is more satisfied by smaller portions. I can feed him a 1/4 cup and then put the dish away. I think it's just a "cleaner" product with more nutritional value.

My dog uses a weewee pad indoors. So, I have to control the amount of human food I give him and make him stick to eating his dog food. It controls the odor of his poop. I also make the effort of buying organic food for him. I agree with Petsugar's suggestion.

I agree, feed him better food. Also, give him some raw chicken/meats/tuna every now and then too.

I HIGHLY recommend Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul for dry pet food ((petfooddirect.com)) or Natural Ultramix. [Sugar] is exactly right, "Chicken" or some whole meat should always be the first ingredient. NOT chicken meal or chicken by-product. also, there should not be any food colorings whatsoever.

Cats love the taste of meow mix and other cheap brands but it is UHEALTHY/BAD for them. Meow mix to your cat is like McDonalds to you.

It's true; healthier food will eliminate some of the poo odor because more of it is absorbed into their bodies and there is less waste. Don't feed dry food only. Mother Nature didn't intend for cats to eat dry cereal all the time. Research!

So... I'm the question-asker. Milo and Minou won't stop making the stinkiest poops! But I'm feeding them good food... they get dry Natural Balance each day, wet Evo once a week, and then they get a locally made organic raw meat food as treats. I think I'm just unlucky with stinky poop.

You know Bella it just comes with having an animal in the house, i am sure if my cats could talk they would be on Humansugar talking about how myself and my husband blow up the bathroom daily, not to mention blaming them when we pass gas.

I have three cats, and i scoop the litter at least three times a day. Mine are on Iams Indoor cat formula, but it doesnt matter they drop bombs no matter what i feed them.

The best is when you smell it, and you go "omygod who did that" look around and the cat licking its hiney is your culprit!

Maybe you could put a fan next to the litter box and have it blow away from your room? It doesn't stop the stink, but at least it moves the air around faster and in another direction.

Maybe you need to try a different litter that absorbs the smell faster and better, or use a freshener like Arm & Hammer litter freshener or Mrs. Meyers freshener. And put an air freshener close to the litter box.

Or get one of those totally scary litter maid things that automagically scoops 10 seconds after the cat jumps out of the box. Always makes for fun times if kitty decides they weren't finished and jumps back in.

I agree with the litter suggestion. My cats stink, but once they cover it up, it's not bad.

I had the same problem. I told my vet and he said to only feed them dry food that is all one natural color, like brown. He said that multi-colored bits (like Meow Mix) have a lot of dyes in them that are hard to digest and create stinky poo. I now feed her only Iams bits and she is still smelly (her name is Binky and she's gotten the nickname Stinky Binky) but it has gotten better.

My Oliver Man is a "stinky pants" as well! A gal at my local Mom and Pop-type pet store convinced me to try Dr. Elsey's Ultra Precious Cat litter, and I can't say enough about it! A-MAZE-ING! The only downside is that it comes in a 40 lb. plastic bag. And it's not available at the "big box" stores like PetSmart or PetCo...just the smaller pet stores. It's also a little more expensive, but absolutely worth it! Hope this helps!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I used to have a Littermaid, but I was hoping that I could just use a normal litter box. Maybe I'll buy one.

Well Bella, my Milo was having other poo problems that were posted about on here, and changing his food helped no end. What goes in must come out so maybe try them on different combinations of food until you get a better result. Since we solved his "messy poo" problems we've also noticed that they've become significantly less stinky. One of the things we cut out of Milo's diet was his cat milk (which he loooooved!) so maybe if your boys get cat milk you could try cutting that out?

We've also changed over to a covered litter tray (nothing fancy, no auto-cleaner or anything, just a box with a lid and a door) which has a carbon filter and now we get no smell at all.

Incidentally, since Petsugar mentioned reading the ingredient list on your pet food, I have to say I really think people should do this. Usually we feed Milo Royal Canin (we changed from Iams because we read bad things about their ethics as a company) but in an emergancy on evening I picked up a packet of food at the corner shop which, when I got it home, turned out to contain 15% ash as an ingredient. Yes, ASH! So be careful!

My cat used to have the same problem. And that was when he was eating the Evo food. But it was the Evo Raw or something like that. Anyway, I think it was too rich/had too much protein for him. The smell was AWFUL!!! We had to flush it right away and light a scented candle. (We use the Feline Pine litter which helps with smells and is flushable). We switched to Healthwise which is also supposed to be very good cat food, and his poops aren't nearly as stinky now. (As for the needing to "pull up her panties" comment, I'm not sure you've ever experienced really stinky cat poop. Our friends who would be there when our cat went to the bathroom would practically run outside. So, it can be pretty bad.)

I can second the Arm & Hammer litter! It's the only thing that works for our kitties and it clumps really well, which is a must with the automatic litter box.

My cats both had very stinky poo as kittens, which mostly faded as they grew. I have noticed that since switching my cats to raw food a couple of weeks ago they have been far less stinky (and happier, my cat who is very vocal with his anxiety has been much quieter).
