Since I've already shared my love for harnesses, check out some common types below – it's possible to find ones that have several features all in one!
- Soft harnesses. Like the Puppia harness seen above, these feature a comfy air-mesh material providing support and ventilation for active pooches.
- Step-in harnesses. For dogs that hate the over-the-head process, hold these harnesses flat and put one front paw in each hole – easy on, easy off!
- Harness Vests. If you don't want to dress up a dog, but still want to give him a festive look, harness vests are, as the name implies, a combo of a harness and a decorative vest.
- K-Style harnesses. These soft harnesses (often microsuede or velvet) are secured with Velcro making them easy to wrap up small pooches that don't tug too much.
- Easy-walk harnesses. Often with a leash ring in the front (not on top of his back), these harnesses rest on the breastbone away from the neck entirely. They're good for training pups not to pull, but require attention to make sure the lead doesn't twist around his head.

I've been looking for good kitty harnesses!
1My pup absolutely loves his Puppia harness. I definitely want to get him a few more so that he'll be a color coordinated puggle!
2I have to get one of those Puppia harnesses for my chihuahua Felix! Very cute & colorful-Love it!
3so cute, but even the XL won't fit my pups.
4All my dogs wear harnesses, I don't like collars. I don't think pulling on your dogs neck is a good thing, but that's just me. A harness is more dog friendly and these are great! I love all the colors.
5Doxies can't wear collars so Cuba has had a harness since he was brought home from the breeder. Puppia makes a nice one and I have one called Hug-a-Dox that I love.
6Bodhi has a step-in harness. She steps into it & it clips on her back. I call it her pants!!
7that is so cute!!!
8B-Bop has a pupia one, but my moms dog chews on it. She loves to bite his collar, of course while he's wearing it! So he mainly wears a Buddy Belt, which is a step in leather harness. It's super sturdy and makes my little guy look tough haha. I like harnesses over collars, personally, but whatever works for your pup is great!
9My pup has a black Puppia harness and I have to say I think its the best one she's had yet. She is 2lbs and so its really hard to find a harness that fits her and that she cant wiggle out of. They have her size (very hard to find) and its comfortable.
She has around 8 different sets of harnesses with leashes - from designer ones to custom made ones - from material to suedes and leathers - the Puppia is the only one she really likes.
10Great post! Of course the harness I love is the most expensive one (the cupcake step-in). Why is that always the case. lol
11ugh, i love the puppia one, but it's only in sizes for dogs less than 30 pounds, so unfair!
12I agree EastVillageAmy. In fact, the site it's on, Barker and Meowsky, is really mostly for tiny dogs. Most cute doggie things are. But I wouldn't trade my puppy (who will probably be around 70 pounds) for 10 tiny dogs I could dress up.
