Dolphins and porpoises are closely related but they aren't the same! Both belong to the scientific suborder, Odontoceti, which means "toothed whales," but they have different families. Dolphins are part of the Delphinidae family while porpoises are members of the Phocoenidae family. Very scientific sounding, huh? I'll bet you know more about dolphins and porpoises than you think – test your knowledge about these marine mammals in a quiz!

1Dolphins are my favorite!!! I got to swim with them in the Bahamas and it was AMAZING!!!
2For the 4th question... Male killer whales often do get larger than 23 ft.
3I got the first one wrong though - I wouldn't call you guys a "pig fish," little porpoises!!
Geez, I miss one. I didn't know that got that big!
4The size one I got wrong too! I never realised they could grow to that!
523 feet??! damn.
65000!!!
7I didn't know orcas were in the dolphin family.
8Dolphinariums don't educate or conservate they manipulate the animals and their public. Please don't promote dolphins in captivity and don't go swimming with them. It is very tempting but don't be selfish, respect them in their freedom and from a distance. Watch the movie "The Cove" check out the trailer on You Tube. If we really love dolphins we would help them and defend them. To really help or defend dolphins we need to know all the negative facts and what is killing them. Dolphins are dying to entertain us.
