My inside cat, a stray I picked up a few weeks ago, looks very similar to the above cat, except he's not quite as orange, more beige-brown. Puchi uses the litter in the bathroom.
.
My outside cat, Einstein, (yes, we really did name him that and he really does respond) does his business in the grass/dirt.
i keep mine in this weird tiny room meant to be a built in office apparently. it's perfect b/c it has a window. the "office" is as small as a closet so i just use it for storage.
My cat doesn't have a litter box. When she was strictly an indoor cat (the first 6 months we had her,) it was found in our backroom - pretty much equivalent of a basement. Once she started
going outside, she never used the litter box again, After 9 years, we just recently found out where she does her business - that was an unpleasant surprise for my gardening mother.
kitchen only because it's HUGE and has a lot of empty space away from any actual kitchen stuff. Our place is exceedingly small so it's the only place it can go.
I have a small apartment and a large livingroom and I use my love seat to partition off the livingroom and make a walk way to get to the bedrooms and I have my boxes back there. It kinda
bites having them there but it does make sure that I clean them daily so there are not smelly.
My kitties go in the "sunroom", which is just an extension of my living room. I have a one bedroom apartment, so that's pretty much the only place it'll go. I do have a stand-up mirror in
front of it, though, so its not TOO obvious!
I live in a small one bedroom, one bath house, so I have no choice but to put the kitty bathroom in the living room. It is a really nice box though (covered), and I keep it extra clean since
it is visible.
There is one in my bathroom, and one in their play room. It's funny because sometimes my male cat likes to do different deeds in different boxes. He'll go #1 in one, then trot to the other to
do #2.
For now we have 2; one in the hall outside the door to the room where we used to keep our first kitty when we were gone and he was a baby- until he wigged out and now has free reign over the
house. The one box is still right outside that door, though, since he knew it was in that room. For a while, everytime he went in that room he would get pretty upset so we closed it. He's
better about it now but we still have it closed.
The other box is in the kitchen off to the side by the garbage with a cover. It still bugs me that it's in there, though. We are waiting until our kitties are bigger and able to comfortably
go down the basement steps, and when that happens they are going down to one box and it will be faaaar away in the basement.
I don't have cats, because well, I don't like their smell. But, my ex boyfriend had a couple, and they kept their litter box, of all places, in the kitchen! That is just disgusting! You don't
want to smell a litter box when you are trying to think about food, or eat for that matter! If you keep your litter box in the kitchen, I must ask, what is wrong with you?!
We use and under-the-bed storage bin as a litter box for our 3, so after moving it all around the house we finally found a home for it. It is behind the jukebox in the gameroom, which we
angled into the corner and put plants around, so nobody knows it's there. We used to keep it in the closet, but we had some OCD guests push the door closed a couple times, and the babies were
"protesting" before we realized. On the bed, no less.
I wish I had a whole room for my cat. Haha spoiled, I know, but If I had one I would, like someone above me said, just to keep the food, litterbox, and everything else in one place.
I have two cats and two litter boxes in my laundry room. I used to have a screened in patio with a litter box outside. However, a hurricane took care of that. No more screen.

in the basement under the stairs, in their own little sanctuary. It is blocked off from the dogs, so they can have their privacy.
