The Scoop : Woof Water

Nov 1 2007 - 12:38pm

It seems a tad silly to wander in a hot city without carrying a bottle of water, especially if I'm walking temperature-sensitive North [0] (who pants if it's over 70 degrees). However, bringing along an extra bottle of doggy water, seems equally so. I opt for carrying a sportcap bottle so i can give him a porta-water fountain without getting slobber on my bottle, but now there's a new water specifically geared towards dogs – or their dog-loving people.

Woof Water is created by Connecticut-based Avery Beverages [1], who also prides itself on zany drink choices for humans (including toxic slime and dog drool sodas). I can understand the reasoning from a marketing standpoint, and a portion of the proceeds ($1 a half-liter bottle, $4.50 a six-pack) do go to Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary [2]. Yet, somehow, even though this water is simply spring water with no additives, I don't know if I'd feel right drinking it.
