Yum! It's time for one of the high points in your pet's day... mealtime! But, there are so many options, so many labels to read, and what does it all mean? Most people choose their pet's food very carefully and only switch diets gradually, to add supplements, or if health problems develop. I know it's not an easy decision to make, but I wanna hear about it from you!

Dry, but nothing but all natural protein!!!!
1I have been trying to switch my kitties to a raw diet, but they don't seem particularly interested in it. I currently have them on a combination of Nature's Variety canned and "raw" dry food. This process has also taught me that one of my kitties has a VERY distinct intolerance for lamb.
2Dry food, and she gets wet food when I wake up in the morning and around dinnetime...she wont let me forget.
3my cats eat mostly dry with a can of wet every now and again as a treat.
4dude i want that little vintage trash can to store my dog's food in!
5hooooooooooooooow cute!
My dog gets dry food mostly (Wellness) and I mix in a little wet now and then just because
He LOVES when there's wet food in there. He loves the new Wellness canned food, the 95% meat kind.
6orijen dry food, with some merrick wet food mixed in a few times a month as a treat!
7do you know- where I come from, people buy pet food.In Goa, people feed their pets the leftovers of their food- this means cats n dogs eat rice, curries, vegetables, seafood- and all our pets have lived a long life even tho the whole concept of going to a vet is just becoming popular- they used to use home made remedies.
8Iams Dry food baby.
9Low Allergen Hills dry food for my kitties
10I currently have my little guy on Wellness Fish & Potato but he's just much too thin. Unfortunately, he has allergies which make feeding him IMPOSSIBLE but it looks as if I am going to have to try something else. =[
11I like to feed my dogs on the raw food diet, but somedays I am just too lazy and thats when the bag of dry food comes out.
12Cuba has been raw since he came home from the breeder. I make his food once a week and freeze the individual servings. I do keep a bag of EVO on hand sometimes he just loves the crunchies. Once a week he gets a lovely raw chicken neck for his special treat.
13PetSugar is a great site for animal lovers. Thank you!
14when our last great dane got to be around 11 we had to feed her a mix of special old dog food, rice, ground beef, and cottage cheese...
it was nasty but she lived to be like 13 which is awesome for a dane
15dry
16I only give Roxy dry Nutro dog food. The cans give her the runs (TMI?)
17When we got Brando he was on wet food and the breeder told us we should keep him on it for the first 6 months. However, when we took him for his first vet visit the vet said switch ASAP to dry, dry, dry. Not only will it be easier for us, but it's better for his digestion. Every now and then I put a dollop of the wet stuff on it (I had bought a whole case, after all!), but it's mostly just the dry stuff for us.
18Dry nuts. But sometimes Holly will get some leftovers too if we've had roast for dinner.
19One of my kitties is on Purina Diet Formula...she needs to lose a little weight! My other 2 kitties are on Purina Urinary Tract Health, they are prone to UTI's.
20my dogs get premium dry food and I mix in some special longevity formula (according to their different weights) along with a little water to make sort of a gravy . . . they also take herbal supplements
21She gets the natural balance log. She LOVES it! She munched on dry food sometimes and i give her plain rice a few times a week(she has digestion issues sometimes).
22My kittens get dry food in their bowl all day, so they can eat it whenever they want. And, in addition, I feed them two packets of wet food a day, which they freaking snarfle down. They really love that stuff!
23domino and chewy get hill's indoor hairball formula. for some reason my little one loves the big kibbles. when i bought the wrong kind (and dumped the bag in the food container with what was remaining of the previous bag), he ate around the small kibbles, picking out the larger ones. silly cat!
they also love greenies, so they each get a small pile about once a week.
24I wish I could feed my animals a raw/live food diet. I am trying to feed my family raw/live and it's about all I can do to keep that going. I'm still new at it.
25In the mornings dry. Evenings hes becoming meat. Homemade on the weekends and out a tin. He don't like it when he becomes to often the homemade things, so he becomes his tins in the weekdays. Its easier for me to.
262/3 dry food=Solid Gold and Holistic Food by Castor and Pollux.
271/3 wet food=Holistic Chicken&Rice food by Eagle Pack.
I only give my babies the most natural food I can find.
On weekends sometimes I'll cook for them and they go bananas!
We got into the routine of spoiling our dogs with a little dry mixed with a little wet, and and egg yolk. However, Abby started getting sick everyday and we couldn't figure it out. Yea, that was right before all of the recalls, so we went back to dry only. Poor thing is lucky she's fat and didn't have kidney failure.
28i loooooove Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. I know its a weird name but its absolutely the best dry cat food I have found for my cat. I am so picky about this - my cat eats better than I do.
29It's so sad to see how many people have their pets on a dry food diet. I'm puzzled by the people who said their vets recommended it; Vets aren't nutritionists and don't take nutrition courses in their education. They are only taught about nutrition from the sales people that sell them the food they stock in their offices.
My cats used to be on a raw food diet, but we had to make a four-hour round trip each week to get organic meat. I haven't gotten around to checking the city I live in now. They eat Innova EVO (the best) dry food in-between meals, and I feed them half a small can of Natural Balance each, 4x a day. I'm trying to find a better canned food that they will eat, but it's not going so well. They've tried Wellness, Merrick Gourmet, Innova, Newman's Own, and a few brands of packaged raw food diets. They are so picky!!
30mixture of dry and wet food just to reduce the monotony of their diet
31Mandy Jo - most veterinary schools require nutrition courses for entrance. So, not entirely true!
32Natural Balance....we used to mix both wet and dry, but my little Maltese's teeth went bad, so right now we're on just dry....recent change...
33natural balance is good too.
i give them wet in the morning and dry throughout the day.
vet's... know what they're doing but they also have other interests. they recommend Science Diet because they GET PAID TO, not because it is good for your cat. Because the dry food is not.
34MandyJoBo= that's kind of a broad statement
35some animals have very sensitive stomachs and don't fair well on wet food
and as much as I would love to put my dog on an organic diet I can't afford organic food for my self - let alone my dog.
My Rocco gets Timberwolf, Ocean Blus is his favorite. I hear Timberwolf is coming out with more Wet food varieties, which I may try as a special treat. I also hear they are coming out with a treat (seafood) as well. I did buy some raw food to try out, I just haven't got around to defrosting it!
36Ocean Blue, not Ocean Blus!
37the pup eats all organic Newman's Own dry food
38I used to feed my pooch natural balance, but after speaking with the Holistic vet about my dog's recurring skin issues he said to take him off of that and make him homeade food or buy I can't remember what brands of food because it could be a wheat allergy. So now I make him brown rice, peas, carrots, sometimes sweet potatoes, and I buy the organic 100% Turkey or Chicken in the cans to mix in with it. Also throw in a few spoons of missing link. My dog loves it and his coat looks great.
39My cats eat the wet food only when it's new and fresh. If they don't eat it up they won't eat it the rest later... so I give them only dry food cause it can stay in their dish all day.
40Beneful Harvest Blend
41Nutro dry, everytime
42I think I have the only cat that hates wet food. However, the cat loves scraps, so I'll give her a little chicken or a small piece of cheese as a treat.
