Clock's ticking 'til Halloween, and the weekend before is a prime time for holiday parties, costume competitions, and festivities galore. The Haute Dog Howl'oween Parade and costume contest on October 28 in Long Beach, Calif. may just be the world's largest pet-specific Halloween event. Last year, they had 557(!) registered costumed dogs, and raised around $10,000 for various local charities through activities like the Bulldog Kissing Booth. Many dog parks host pet-friendly functions, contests, and parades so check with your local pet shop or newspaper for details.
I know the clothing on animals conversation can be very polarizing, but will you be dressing a pet in (any sort of special) costume this year? If you're planning on dressing your pal up, or you have in the past, join the PetSugar Halloween Costume Extravaganza group on Team. As soon as you do, upload your pet's Halloween costume photos to share with us!

I don't have a dog, but if I did, I would probably only do something simple (if anything at all). I don't like the full costume get-up...I think it must be so uncomfortable for the poor animals.
1My dogs HATE clothes, so nope, can't have them all costumed up. Plus, I don't really see the point in spending a lot of money. xD
2I have two cats so no.
And if I had a dog (which I will someday) I would not put it through the misery of an all out costume, I'd keep it simple. (like my 'rents do)
3Definitely not. My cat would kill me.
4My dog actually doesn't mind outfits very much. He doesn't wear clothes (we live in the desert) but when we visit cold places, I bring hima jackets because his short hair doesn't keep him warm enough.
5As for halloween, it's one of my fave holidays so yes I make him a costume. I would never put him in something uncomfortable, which is why I make them myself, so I know it fits him properly. I love halloween!
I put him in a costume for 2 seconds then take it off. He hates it. When it is cold he does like his sweaters and jackets.
6I have three cats and they each wear a different "neck" costume. One is a jester, one is a witch and the other is a devil. There is no way I could put them in full costumes...so I just stick with a cute necklace thing
7I want to do something, but I'm not sure what. I don't think the whole get up is for my little pup, but he does like to be the center of attention. Maybe a batman cape...
8No, my dog would kill me in my sleep if I did that to her. Plus she would rip it off and shred it fast. Why waste the $
9I have a bunny. No way in hell he'd stand for that.
10not only am i dressing my doggy up we are goin got the Haute Dog Howl'oween Parade in Long Beach. we lived walking distance to it begining of this year and now its just a hop skip and a jump away!!!! SUNDAY dog day!
11Our pup's only 4 months old, so I don't know how he'll take to the costume...but we're going to try. My mom does her pups in cute little get ups every year so we have to try to "outdo" them
12I can't wait to see some of you girls' pets dressed up!!
13oh, and Boulder is going to be a Pumpkin a puffy one. he loves his costume. i put him in it and my friend and i couldent stop laughing. it was a puffy pumpkin juming around!!! he likes to be warm so it works.
14I want to, but there aren't many good costumes for ferrets unless you make it yourself, and I don't have the time or skills
My mom is dressing her sh*tzu in a little witch dress though.
15I tried to dress my cats up, they just froze in place like if they stood really still the costume would just go away, finally they just laid down in a state of petrification untill i took them off.
16I dressed my dog up as Tinkerbell. She loved it which was hysterical. She got to go to PetSmart to have her picture taken and everything. I think its adorable.
17i put my dogs in costumes for all of two minutes while i desperately try to get a photograph - it never works. but's its funnier than hell to see them dressed up. my cat,...no way! he'd rather die than have any garment over his already gorgeous attire!
18My kitties are much to dignified to be dressed as anything other than their already beautiful selves! Leave that to the pooches.
19I don't think any pet likes wearing clothes, especially an uncomfortable costume
20Tiger doesnt really like clothes, but once he get's in them he doesnt want to take them off!
21I never put him in clothes but on Halloween sometimes i put him in costumes for fun!
We have too many to buy costumes for (and we couldn't leave anyone out), so we don't dress them up for Halloween.
22Our Daisy (pup) is going to be a Spider, and our Allie (child, 2)is going to be little Miss Muffett.
I'll post pics
23i dont have a pet but I dont think they would like that.
24I love dressing up my dog for Halloween. If anyone would like to get a Sarah Palin wig (or other dog wig) for their dog go to this site:
