Despite a French fries habit, you recognize the importance of fresh greens in your daily diet, but what about your pets? Grow a salad bar in your house and offer your cats the vitamins, minerals, and live enzymes found in raw foods and also aid their digestion and hairball control. Start with seeds like wheatgrass and oatgrass ($4.50 each, six oz. of seeds), or check with the vet for other feline-safe plants. Place the seedlings in a sunny spot where kitty can easily reach them. Mix up offerings with the modern Mesa Herb Planter, including three pots and stylish tray set from Chiasso ($38). Grow a small amount of catnip
there too—they’ll purr with delight!

Yes, I really need to buy Baby Girls some grass to eat. Ugg this morning she was meowing liek crazy and pissed me off!!!
1Is there one for dogs?
2My cats their own grass and love it!
3THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!
I LIKE IT AND ITS CUTE!
4I bought my cat some sweetgrass but we had it up with some other plants (because he was eating the other plants), and there was a lamp over them (not a lot of window light).
well he jumped up on the table and burned himself from the light!! His fur was scorched but fortunately his skin was fine. He was just a bit traumatized. So I then moved the sweetgrass somewhere else.
Just a heads up though!!
5We have a seed cartridge that hooks onto the side of our Drinkwell pet fountain that grows the grass with no natural light at all, the movement of the water makes the grass grow - it's not as green as it would be if it were in a window sill, but our baby girls love it to pieces!
I've often considered adding some in the window sill too, but I'm always afraid that the girls will knock it out of the window. Any tips for keeping it in and not coming home to a grand mess of dirt and roots and broken pot?
6I thought the first line was about my Cliff! He LOVES fries. Anyhow, my kitties, for as much as they love to munch on plants will NOT eat kitty grass. BOO! We can't keep any plants around at ALL. Don't even get me started on all the Poinsettias that folks give me at the Holidays! They are so lovely, but so deadly. Maybe I should keep Kitty Grass as a decorative plant since I can't have any others.
7I buy my cats the kitty grass they sell in pet stores sometimes...but this is so much cuter! I want it!
8$38???!!!! OMG, seriously. Go to a garden center and buy wheat grass seeds. They grow super fast and are incredibly cheap and pet edible.
9kiddy, i bought the sweetgrass so my cat would eat that, instead of the bad plants.
10this is a great idea and so cheap!! looks pretty too
11I've been meaning to do that for a while so my orchids can get a break from being chewed up
12I buy wheat berries at the natural food store for pennies, grow it in dirt or even just a damp paper towel and voila! Grass. Miss Domino approves.
13I have allways wanted to try that, does anyone know if you can safely grow catnip?
14I've tried this so many times with my kitties! They still won't eat fresh grasses or catnip.
15I grow grass for Kitty quite often. He loves it and thinks he is hiding behind it when my husband comes home. A thing the 2 of them play. LOL.
16I buy grass like that for my cat at petsmart (or petco..I always get those two confused!) Anyway, she really likes it.
