My dog and guinea pig can do a circle. It's pretty amazing and cute when the guinea pig does it, the dog, it's just funny because she thinks she still has to be sitting and scoots around on
her butt.
My dogs are so smart - but then their collie/ACD crosses and herding breeds are known for their brains! They compete in agility, rally, and obedience so they're pretty high on the number of
commands they know.
There's this really fun dog trick book - 101 Dog Tricks by Kyra Sundance, and it has a lot of fun options. My dogs do the usual, left paw, right paw, drop, down, sit, roll over, they stand up
on their hind legs if you ask them "how tall are you?".
They also have an uncanny ability to learn people's names and names for all their toys. If you ask my Benny where's Mommy, he'll come to me. Where's Maia, he'll go to his sister. Where's
daddy, he goes to my hubby. He knows our friends Pete, Kevin, Grandma, Grandpa, Matt, and girlfriend (we joke my bestfriend is Benny's girlfriend). All their toys get a unique name and within
2 weeks, they learn the names. That's a favorite game of mine, to ask for a specific toy, and watch them run over to the toy basket and bring back the correct toy. I'm such a proud mommy!
That would be great if the dog put the cat in the dryer! I wonder if there's something with Border Collies and dryers? Family friends have a border collie that will wait by the washer and
dryer while the washer is running. When it finishes, she comes and gets them and herds them to the washer so they can put it in the dryer. Then she'll come get them when the dryer finishes.
It's so funny!
I have two dogs and one of them thinks that being able to sit on command is the world's most amazing feat ever and my other dog actually went to puppy and intermediate training classes so he
learned how to shake, high-five, "pound-it" (a.k.a. the fist bump), roll-over, and bow. It's pretty cute if I do say so myself. =)
