Having a houseful of cats can earn you mean names — who are you calling crazy?! — but do you know how many animals you can legally own in your county? I checked out Cat Ladies at the SF Documentary Film Festival earlier this month and the producers were asked about law breaking for the movie. The flick was filmed in Canada, with different pet laws by region, but there were still concerns about ratting out (ha) pet owners over the legal limit.
Which brings us to Dudley, MA, where a woman put her home up for sale because she had more than three cats, which would require a residential kennel license in her area. I know it's come up for celebs (like Paris Hilton) and I honestly don't know how many pets my city legally allows per home, but I'm sure just one lil guy is fine. Do you?

I'm up to three dogs.. I should probably check!
1ugh i hate these answers. yes, i know, but i am not breaking the law.
2I hate the answers, too, snarky! I don't know, but I do care if I'm breaking the law. I just figure my one dog (that I'm getting in the next week or so) will be OK.
3I don't know what the limit is here in Atlanta, but I know what it is in my hometown in Upstate New York. A family moved in across the street from my parents and they had like 9 big dogs, most of whom were living in cages in the back yard and barked incessantly. After one of them got loose and almost bit my mom, she reported them. They had to get rid of about half their dogs. I felt bad for them but at the same time if you have so many that they have to live in cages in the back yard, you aren't doing what's best for the dogs anyways.
4The most I ever had at once was 7 pets; but I just checked and the limit is 15 where I lived at the time.
I don't know the law where I am currently living, but I only have one dog. The laws are too hard to find. Apparently you are supposed to register pets with the local government every year? I didn't know that, but no way I am going to the city every year to pay $7. What's the point?
5Whatever the law is, I agree that it should be based on the well-being of the dogs.
6Two dogs, two cats is the limit in my city.
7Yes I know the laws, and No i am not breaking the laws. You need more options for your poll.
8I actually just checked, and couldn't find any city law regarding pet limit. I think they're set by the HOAs in here, which generally is 2 cats and 2 dogs per home.
I used to have two dogs (one passed away the week after my birthday last month) and yea. I doubt I'd have more than 2 dogs if they're not a trained hearing dog (they're very strict...cant' have any other dog in the house other than the hearing dog, but other pets are ok.)
