There's some sad news out of LA this evening: Jessica Simpson's pooch was taken by a coyote. She just tweeted about the picking of her precious Daisy right in front of her face. I cannot even imagine:
My heart is broken because a coyote took my precious Daisy right in front of our eyes. HORROR! We are searching. Hoping. Please help!
Unfortunately, coyotes present a constant danger for outdoor pets and it's hard to track exactly what happened after the dog disappeared. If you allow pets outside in areas where these animals (and other dangerous creatures) roam free, please let this be a lesson to you. Fingers crossed for a miracle to bring the maltipoo home.

This is SO SAD!! I can't imagine either, Pet. I'm hoping for a miracle!
1Devastating. It's so obvious how much she loves Daisy.
2Sad!!
3My cat Nibbler was taken by a pack of coyotes a few weeks ago, I can't think about it too much without crying still. I hope her story has a happier ending.
4horrible- this poor girl has not had the best of luck lately
5That is soooo sad. Poor little daisy. I guess we just have to think about the circle of life here.
6I feel so bad for her! This is my worst nightmare. I live in the Los Angeles area as well and there is a constant threat of coyotes. I always go outside with my pup when she goes to the bathroom, but coyotes have been known to jump walls so quickly that there is nothing you can do! I hope they find daisy!
7That is absolutely awful. I don't know what I would do if something happened to my dogs. I'm so sorry Jessica! I'm also hoping for a miracle!
8I'm sad to hear this. She needs a miracle if Daisy is to have survived being taken off by a coyote.
My parents live out in the country and coyotes and deer regularly pass through my parents land. I had a fat cat (22 lb - behemoth) that used to spend all night on the windowsill in my bedroom. One time I happened to look out after a fresh snow and there were coyote tracks that came right up to my window where my cat would sit. You could tell by the tracks that they had tried to get at the window and there was a wet smear on the outside of the window. It terrified me - as long as I had that cat, I never slept with my windows open again. It would be too easy for a coyote to have jumped through the screen to grab him and who knows what would have happened had one jumped into my bedroom with me in there too.
9So sad - it's so hard when pets get taken by animals. Around here, hawks are a huge problems for small dogs. When my fiancee's yorkie was young, while out in the backyard, she was picked up by a hawk. His mother was standing on the porch and launched at the hawk, grabbing onto the yorkie and fortunately, the hawk released her and flew away. Hawks usually snap the neck of their prey upon taking them, but the hawk got her collar, so she survived that. Then she got rescued. She really was a fortunate dog - and we are lucky nothing happened to her or my fiancee's mother.
10I feel bad for Jess because that's an awful loss.
That's very sad. She looks like a sweet little dog. I'm hoping for the best.
11Through everything I have always like Jessica and I remember watching the episode where she got Daisy and I really hope she gets her back.
12so sad! a friend of mine lives in Lake Tahoe and told me about coyotes and I didnt believe her very much now I do!
13Wow, this is heartbreaking. It is a really unfortunate fate for small dogs in Los Angeles, but it does happen. I'm hoping for a miracle for her.
14Awwwww....that is so sad!!
15very sad!
16Omgosh this scares me so much! I remember someone telling my mom how a rabbit got picked up by a hawk in our state (it's small). My little chihuahua can look like a bunny from that far up. That is soo scary =(
17Just the thought of it brought tears to my eyes!
18How cruel to say mean things at a time like this...
I would be devastated if that happened to me. My heart goes out to her.
19This breaks my heart.
20My heart goes out to her.
21this is horrific, I cannot even imagine watching it happen. I really pray for Daisy.
I don't
know what I would do.
22Not a fan of Jessica, but I do feel for her. I am very sorry for her and trully hope she finds her pup. she's had some really sad moments lately. I never even knew these things were possible.
23Poor Daisy! This is awful! I am praying they find her!!!
24My heart really goes out to her on this one. You can tell from all of the pictures how much she loves this dog. She takes Daisy everywhere with her. My dogs are a huge part of my life, they bring me so much love. I know her heart is already broken from Tony, and now this. I can't imagine:(
25This is really sad. I like Jessica and agree she has had a hard year. Maybe I am just being a pessimist here, but a miracle? Really? Have there EVER been stories of a recovered dog after a coyote attack?
26Poor Daisy, and poor Jess. I can't imagine going through this.
27Oh looking at that reward poster . . . it's just heartbreaking!!!!
28i lost a kitty a couple years back to the coyote's at my parent's house. that was the last time i allowed any of my babies outside. i dont understand why jessica let daisy roam freely when she has enough money to purchase a nice outdoor enclosure, but i guess hindsight is 20/20. i hope of course for a miracle, but coyotes are vicious and i'm not holding my breath. good luck jess.
29it's CARAMEL. There are coyotes all over LA, just saw one the other day in Griffith Park. That dog was her last tie to Nick... maybe it's closure? She loved it though, SO SAD! But where was the leash?
30Poor Daisy, she looks so sweet. I feel so badly for Jessica. I would die if this happened to one of my dogs. I hope she finds her safe and sound.
31I've never heard of this. ¿How does one let their dog get snatched up by coyotes? Was she even taking care of her or was she too busy pouring down the booze? I must sound like a hater, but it chills me when I think of such a lovely pet that was abandoned by her owner. Maybe the coyote thought Daisy was tuna...
32Is it wrong to wonder if maybe G_d is still just a little pissed at Jessica for breaking poor Nick Lachey's heart? I mean, what other plagues can befall this girl this year? Boils? Locusts?
33OMG... That is sooo sad.
This is unheard of where I live (like really.... I am in shock)!!!
She adores that dog!
34And OMG poor Daisy! She must have been terrified!
It's very sad about Daisy, hopefully they will find her but it's doubtful. Coyotes can get quite vicious and once they grab their prey that's usually it.
I find it absurd that some blame Jessica for this, what was she supposed to do fight the coyote off, she could have been attacked.
35I live in an area where coyote snatchings occur often. The pets are never recovered, which is really sad.
36I have never understood how someone can make light of a nasty situation. It's no one's fault and it happens a lot from what i understand now. It must have been a horrible thing to see. God is not mad at Jess for Nick, that's just plain ridiculous, the God I know doesn't go around killing puppies for a break up.
37I grew up on a farm in northern Canada and packs of coyotes would stalk our land at night. They are not vicious creatures but they eat when they spot an opportunity. My heart goes to Jessica and I really hope Daisy gets home safe. The only thing worse than losing your pet is not knowing.
38I am so sad for Jessica...I can not even imagine how she is feeing, right now. I have two Morkie's and people always make fun of me because Im over protective. This shows that you can never be too overprotective. I will say a prayer for Jessica and Daisy.
39I find the to be hilarious, so sureal, is she waiting for an email from the coyotes? I mean who else is goint to email??
40To anononymous comment 41: I just find it amazing how people can have such lack of understanding and be so f*cking cruel when someone is in pain. It's so obvious that you've never lost someone you love (if you know how to love?).
Hope is the last thing to leave when we're in situations like this. I pray that a miracle happens and that Daisy is found. I'm so sad for you. Lots of hugs.
41I hope her future pets are given a safe outdoor enclosure or are at least walked on a leash. Coyotes eat pets if given the opportunity and a leash on dogs and keeping cats indoors can help prevent this.
42This incident has really upset me. It has been on my mind constantly since I heard about it...and thinking about it makes me sick at my stomach. I too am a single girl that is Jessica's age with two dogs...which are my "kids". Anyone who was remotely a fan of Jessica's knows that this dog really meant a lot to her. I can't imagine witnessing that and how hard a time she is having. I would need a sedative and would be absolutely beside myself. And that poor poor dog...I bet she was so scared...and let's be honest, not a good way to go. I read that coyotes are bravely venturing into neighborhoods and snatching up domestic animals...bc they know that they are easy to get and can't protect themselves like wild animals can...and these coyotes are supposedly pretty ballsy, willing to snatch anything no matter how close it is to a human.
People are being SO mean over this. Obviously she doesn't expect coyotes to read Twitter or signs...obviously. I'm sure she does realize that not every person in the world knows her dog. And I know she wants Daisy returned to her one way or the other...whether it be to get her dog back or to bury her and have a little closure. Who can blame her there? I would do the same exact thing. Who can blame her for 2 days later still looking? I just can't believe during this terribly difficult time, people would attack her...geez, where is compassion?
Realistically, I know the dog is most likely gone. But miracles do happen. But either way, I do hope she finds her so she won't always be wondering.
43I feel very sad for jessica,i watch newlyweds show when it was on and I like her maltipoo Daisy. I too have two maltipoos and could be afraid and very sad if this happens to my precious doggies! i pray that she is found safe and alive! she's a cutie! and cant imagine how frighting this situation was for jessica and daisy! mt heart goes out to her....is like loosing a family member....i hope a miracle happens!!!
44This is so sad!!! the thought of losing my dogs in any way frightens me. I'm glad I don't live in an area where coyotes are a real threat. I can't imagine how awful it must have been to witness her dog being taken and how terrifying it must have been for poor Daisy. I hope for the best.
45Here in West Hollywood Coyotes have been known to snatch small dogs even when they are on a lead. The snatch happens so quickly it surprises the owners and the dog is taken.
What a terrible experience for Jessica and poor little Daisy.
46coyotes take dogs ALL the time where I live. They've been roaming golf courses and have been seen jumping over 5 foot fences to get to animals. I've seen numerous ones on the side of BUSY roads, like in town. It's very scary, you think your animals are safe in your own yard but they aren't!
47Message for Jess
Poor Jess,
My heart goes out to you, cause I know how devastating and troubling this situation must be. Not knowing the outcome is probably the worst thing possible.
I have lost pets in the past and the pain of having our beloved friend taken away for whatever reason is not easy to cope with. For some, pets are simply pets, but I am pretty sure, Daisy is way more.
Nature is a cruel game, I would like to promise you that some positive news will turn up, but in fact what I will say is, it’s ok to keep hoping, it’s ok to cry and reflect on all that time you had together, and all those days where she seemed to be the only one there for you. It will in times help you heal.
Just so you know, without any pictures, I can tell you that out here in Canada (Quebec and Ontario) I hunt coyotes. We hunt them not because we are brutal killers, but because of their numbers their putting a pretty good beat down on the deer population, and of course, sometimes they take something even worse.... I’ll put the next one down with a special taught for Daisy and her Mom
Eric .
48i cant believe that ugly coyote took that cute little maltipoo like that. im trying to figure out why didnt jessica do nothing about it instead of looking right at her pert . thats stupid
