While Chanel was crowned the "World's Oldest Dog" by the Guinness Book of World Records just months before her death, news has come of another elderly pooch that could be the new (rightful) titleholder. This is Penny photographed on Sept. 4 in Ronsberg, Germany — according to her owner, Verena Wulf, she's 25! While it's trickier to verify age with unregistered, non-purebred pups for lack of records, I'm curious to know how her story plays out — do you think this pooch will soon get a cake and a press conference, too, or are you still satisfied with Chanel? Weigh in below!
But, even at her old age, Penny still likes to play fetch and catch — check her out playing with meat hunks when you read more.

wow.
1and i thought my fiancee's family's 15 year old yorkie was amazing!
what a healthy pet!
What a cute dog!
Hmm, seems to me that vet records may be able to verify the 25 years of age. My dogs don't have papers/are unregistered but I have vet records showing they received shots at 8 weeks of age. Maybe that could help!
2wow--she looks younger then chanel!
