this is a very scary disease ... it will kill your furry best friend. i had a vet mis-diagnosis it in my 4 month old aussie. she actually had kennel cough - BIG MISTAKE. i don't go to that vet anymore.
1Where I work we sell the vaccine for this disease, along with several other vaccines included in a 7-way shot. If you cannot afford to take your pet to the vet, then you should be responsible enough to vaccinate them yourself or get them to a low-cost clinic.
Like the quiz mentions, there are no known cures so it is imperative that you vaccinate as a preventative.
Be sure to research all vaccinations before administering them yourself! Also, make sure you follow-up with any necessary boosters.

2When I adopted my dog at 6 mo. she came home with distemper. no one knew and since she had all her shots upon rescue the vaccines masked all test results. she lasted 7 weeks admitted in the hospital under 24 hour care. she suffered seizures, lost her foot pads, lost her balance and ability to walk and many more things. she came home and it took her a good 6 months for recovery. we had to teach her how to walk again and she regained her paw pads. today all she has left over from the disease is a minor neuroligical twitch in her upper body which is from the seizures. now she is three years old and is perfectly healthy and happy! a miracle pup indeed!
