So far, so good. I've never had to go to the Animal ER.

Oh, I just had to for the first time two weeks ago. Thankfully, it did not require surgery, but I still get a pit in my stomache thinking about it.

Once for each dog. One required surgery the other did not.

I had to take my dog to the vet er when she had a seizure in the middle of the night, it ended up being epilepsy and controlled with medicine but it was scary. i have had to take my cat to the regular vet twice on short notice, she has hairball blockage issues. our other cat had to be taken quickly once too because she had a bladder infection but those weren't emergencies and our vet does "emergency" visits during business hours so they get you in real quick when there is an obvious problem.

I've had my dog for 8 years and I haven't gone to the emergency room before. He must be a healthy and lucky dude.

My dalmatian was accident prone. Luckily an emergency vet was less than 5 miles from my house.

Just once..I have a papillon and she jumps a lot and her little back knee gave out

I also have a little papillion who LOVES to jump. She loves it so much she jumped 9ft off our balcony into a bush of ivy and scratched her eye. The situation required a trip to the ER. She also developed an allergy to something and scratched/ bit herself to blood in the 6 hours i left her home alone. That was ER trip number 2.
I hope that will be the end of ER visits for us...

A few times over many years. My cats have always had the innate sense to time emergencies on weekends and in the middle of the night, when their regular vets are not available!

Counting my lucky stars I have not had to run Sampson to the vet....He's a healthy pup soo far:}

just once.....after my pup got his lepto. shot he had a severe reaction and was all swollen, had to rush him back to the vet.
He got better after an anti-inflamatory shot

I think I've taken every pet I've had at least once, so that adds up!

What kind of dog is that? It's pretty adorable.

Twice for one dog and once for my cat.

None for Gracie-belle yet *knocks on wood* but with my beloved and dearly missed prairie dog (yes, a prairie dog, she was INCREDIBLE), three times. First was when she first came home with me, as a rehab from a pet shop my sister worked for...her blood counts should've been about 10x what they were. They were amazed she survived.

#2 was a bad go of it...I was out of town for a weekend, came home to her inflated like a balloon. Seriously. Both of her sides were puffed up HUGE. Turns out she'd been swallowing air because of a respiratory bug, and since she couldn't poot, it all stayed. THAT was a fun visit. Lots of gas-reducing meds later, she regained her normal size.

The last time, though, we lost her to a really bad respiratory bug. I still miss her. She was my widdle critter.

I also had to go to the E-vet to have my leopard gecko put down...he went blind in a bad shed, and i had to hand-feed him...suddenly he just started shutting down, to the point that he couldn't swallow anymore. It was hard, but it was time.

Dernit...now I'm all sniffly!

Once. My mother and I thought Zoe (our dog) was having a stroke, since she was drooling incessively, her eyes were shaking, her ears were cocked in a weird direction, and she couldn't walk or stand at all.

We almost put her to sleep, which is still something that somewhat haunts me to this day. Luckily, I saw her two hours after we took her to the vet, and she was completely fine. I told Mom to give her one more chance, and we let the vet keep her overnight.

It turned out she had double inner ear infections. The ER visit was expensive, but I think it was definitely worth it because we still have Zoe around, just for a little bit longer.
