Fostering an animal is the single most important gift you can give them, besides adopting them into a forever home. Most have become homeless through no fault of their own and re-acclimating
them to 'the good life' is an important step in getting them ready for the home they were meant for.
Though, fostering is difficult, you certainly do get attached, but getting that first report of "Fido is right at home with us and we love him" from the adoptive family completes the circle
for me.
And not all rescues and shelters are created equal. Some are just downright hard to work with/volunteer for, while others understand your limitations and concerns and work really close with
you to ensure a great experience for you and the animal.
If anyone is considering fostering, or doesn't know how to start, shoot me a message! I love to talk dog rescue!!
Yup !!! We currently have three little kittens, about 5 weeks old, that weigh btwn 1.2-1.6 lbs. We need to get them up to 2.2 lbs and 8 weeks so they can be spayed/ neutered and then adopted
My husband and I estimate we've probably had 25-30 kittens come through our house ...
No, but I would really like to eventually! My aunt and uncle foster cats and I absolutely love going to visit them. This is something I definitely want to do once I have my own place.
no, but i would love to. i have discussed this several times with my boyfriend..maybe we will. we got our puppy from a breeder, but i would love to give a homeless puppy a loving home.
SaRaH 22, do you watch Dogtown? I bawl my eyes out along with the foster parents when the dogs find forever homes, but saying goodbye isn't as bad when it's for such a happy reason... I bet
you could do it
Sarah, I agree with Weffie ! It's not as bad as you think you give them up. We (husby and I) know from the beginning that they aren't "our" kittens, and while it's hard to say goodbye, once
they are climbing up your pants, the shower curtain, MEW MEW MEWing in the middle of the night, etc. it gets easier
thanks weffie & running....its something that we both have wanted to I guess it wouldnt hurt to try it out with 1 cat first and then if I cant let go its only 1 more to add to our family
I have been fostering kittens since I was three years old and I love it. Growing up, the other, resident cats in the house couldn't handle a Mother cat so we fostered orphans. It was so cool.
We had this little room with a screen door we kept them in with everything they could want and more. After a month or so, we would let them run around the house and the other cats would
ignore them. Another month and they were gone. Its a great way to teach children about animals and responsiblility without comiting to a lifetime pet!

9I really want to but my apartment building doesn't allow animals:( Before that I wasn't stable enough to consider it.

12If I could have 100 cats, I would!! The two I have rescued are trouble enough. =)
