Whether you're a fan of Cesar, clicker or Kilcommons and Wilson, there are tons of famous trainers and training methods to choose from as pet owners.
Since everyone can find some ways to improve training or teaching tricks at home, let's recommend books for new puppies, refresher courses, or just plain fun. If we each share titles, authors or methods in the comments below, together we can create a great library!

Anything Ceser Millan! That man knows so much!
I have two Pitties (one is mine and one is a friedns we are looking after for a year) and you can really see the difference in how they were brought up. Ours was brought up under Ceser's methods. She is very outgoing, not scared of anything BUT she respects us and knows that we are the leaders and what we say goes. Bee on the other hand was brought up under a hard hand. She is VERY frightened of anything (pots clanking ect.) and she will listen to us but it takes a lot of work and patience. Sometimes she is so scared of us that she quivers
1I have to agree with Lovely_1, Cesar Milan is the man.
Cesar Milan's "Cesar's Way" is a great book - the flash cards you can buy separately are good too (boyfriend didn't even mind reading those).
2Im currently reading "The Puppy Whisperer" By Paul Owens (the original whisperer) and Terence Cranendonk. It's awesome and it's definitely helping me train Chloé!
3Nothing Cesar for me, thanks.
Patricia McConnell is fabulous for understand what you are trying to convey to your dog and why.
Turid Rugaas works wonders with human-dog communication and calming signals.
Karen Pryor for clicker basics and training.
Jean Donaldson has a great understanding of canine behaviors and is easy to read.
I'm starting to get into Victoria Stillwell's work, but I'm 100% yet.
