5XDeexDeeX, they kind of poke. When they're babies they're needle sharp and if you don't wear leather gloves you'll get bloody fingers. But as you handle them they get used to you and don't poke, plus you figure out how to scoop them up. We gave ours kitty litter to roll in. They loved it, and we liked it because it dulled their quills.
