For those of you who read the book (or plan to), will you be checking out Marley & Me, opening in theaters today? I already saw a press preview and, lemme tell you – it's a tearjerker.
After leaving the movie, all I wanted to do was go home and play with my dog . . . well, more than usual. I think I was touched by how much love the couple showed to their insanely mischievous dog and how, through it all, their "clearance puppy" was always there for them.

This movie looks adorable, but I just can't watch Jennifer Aniston after the (tacky) lengths she went to promote this film. I still don't understand what posing naked with an American flag tie on has to do with a family movie about about a dog!
1I've been waiting for this movie ever since I read the book! I'm going to take it in after Christmas, though. And I will be lobbying for a seat near the back of the theater (i.e. near the exits) because I'm sure I will be a sniffling, teary-eyed, snot fountain by the end of the movie!
2I loved the book, but am not sure if I want to spend money to cry in a theater. The book made me want to play with my dog more too, especially since she is almost 12. I get sad just thinking about how old she is.
3This is just the kid of movie I would've seen with my grandma (we were very close) and she just passed away, so, I think I'd be tearing more than most.
4Naw, it doesn't seem like the type of movie for me. The dog is super cute, though.
5saw it, love it. cried and couldn't wait to get home to my 2 pups. jen and owen were so cute together but all those dogs were pretty amazing as well.
6It looks super cute but I think I'll wait until DVD.
7I haven't decided yet. I read the book, which was heartwarming and heartbreaking.
8I saw it today and I cried like a baby. It was really good. I did like the book better I must say.
9The dog is adorable but I CAN'T stand Jennifer Aniston..so I will be passing on this one.
10I loved the book but I cried so much, and I think it would be even worse in movie form -- so, no. Like some of the other posters said, it's a little too close to home when you also have a very old dog.
My husband is going to see it, though. He also cried at the end of the book.
11I'll probably wait til it comes out on DVD so I can have my cryfest in the privacy of my own home! I did read the book over the summer, and it was fantastic. My parents' 12 year old greyhound was deteriorating from bone cancer while I was reading it, so by the time I got to the end of the book I'd get maybe half a paragraph in before I started bawling. All in all, though, the book was fantastic and made me appreciate my puppy even more. =)
