Over the weekend, I told someone I just met that I had a puppy when asked if I had roommates. My pal overheard and was quick to point out that North is a grown dog.
I wasn't being intentionally deceitful (after all my parents still refer to only-child-me as "the baby" and I'm far from it), and I meant it more affectionately than realistically. Do you ever refer to your pet as a puppy, kitten or other (dare I say) pet names regardless of age? Shh, the poll's anonymous so your secret's safe with me.

yes, I still call the younger cat a kitten even though she's more than a year old now and technically not a kitten.
1YES YES YES!!
2my oldest dog is 10 and i still call him puppy
3My oldest dog is 8 and my youngest is 4 and I still call them puppies. I even call grown dogs I don't know puppy. Its totally a term of endearment plus I think grown dogs always have that puppy spirit in them
4Ladybird is only 15 months, but I'll probably be calling her a puppy for the rest of our lives, even if she's 15 years!
5This drives my boyfriend NUTS! I'll see a full grown dog walking down the street and I'll say "Aww look at the puppy!!" and he'll freak out and say "It's not a puppy! That is a grown ass dog!! Ugh!" hehehe
6I call the office puppy a puppy all the time. He's almost 2.
7Every dog is a puppy to me!
No matter how big or how old, they will always be
puppies.
8Perfect analogy Pet, just like you're always your parents baby, a dog is always his owner's puppy!
9I call my dog puppy just like I call my boyfriend baby... it's a term of endearment... It's a sign of love and affection because I care for both of them like a baby... haha
10I lovingly call Eegor a puppy, even though he's not technically a puppy anymore. He definitely still acts like one though! However, I don't call him a puppy to other people... too confusing.
11we call our cats kittens and my mom' dog a puppy. it's cute!
12I call both dogs the puppies and probably always will....but they do look young for their ages!! its all the scruffy hair
13I do. Nike is 5 years old and 75 pounds and I still call her a pup. It's just my affection for her. I remember picking her up at the SPCA when she was just a merely 4 pounds of wonderful little puppy with massive paws and a wet nose.
I still call my 5 year old cats- kittens. Although my vet says my cats are entering their adolescent years. Uggh, teenagers.
14I say, unless they have had puppies/kittens of their own then they are always allowed to be puppies/kittens themselves. (Same goes for people). My (not so) puppy is neutered so he'll always be my puppy!
15I still call my parents' 11 year old Jack Russell a puppy, but maybe it's just because he's a fairly small dog.
16I even call my 14 year old doggie, baby! Because he is and always be my baby!
17I'm out of town and I miss my puppy! (he is actually still a puppy, but I called the dog we had before him a puppy all his life). It's a term of affection, not a statement of age for me
18My Chihuahua is almost 5 and I still call her my puppy.
19It's cute as a tearm of endearment but i guess if you're talkign to someone it's a little misleading. Saying you have a kitten or a puppy might make the person think you just got it recently. Not that it matters but I guess in conversation using dog or cat for adult pets just explains the situation better.

21yes i call all dogs, puppies.
22age is just a number..
I don't have dogs, but I call my cats kittens sometimes.
23No one believes me when I answer that my yorkie is going to be 5 years old this year.. they say.. five months? lol she will always be my puppy-baby
24Zena has so many pet names I'm surprised she responds to them all! There's Zeener, Z, ZZ, Zen, Psycho, Psycho Dog, Baby Girl, Puppy Dog, the list goes on. I've always called my dogs doggies or puppies. >.<</p> 25
I called my Duchess Darlene Doggie a puppy until the day she died; she was 16. I tell people that as long as you call them puppies, they have no idea how old they are so they'll stay around longer. I know it's not true, but it works in my head and sometimes that's all that matters.
26I call our cat, Jasmine, 'Kitten' or 'KittenGirl' all the time and she just had her 18th birthday last week.
27People call my dog Scout a puppy all the time, even though she's 11 and has lots of gray on her muzzle. She's still a puppy at heart though!
28My dog is so little (8 pounds) that most of us refer to him as a puppy or a pup, he doesn't seem like a "dog" he's more like our child!
29Whenever I see a dog I always say "look at the puppy!" even though you can tell the dog is full grown.
30Oh, and my kitty has lots of pet names! His name if Felix, but I call him FeeFee, Feefurson (sounds just like it's spelled) and Felix pie. He comes to all of them, which is silly.
31My two dogs will always be my little babies/puppies in my eyes.
