All pets have baffling behavior of one kind or another but, until our weekend beach excursion, I'd totally forgotten North's peculiar propensity: He won't go potty on the sand!
My best guess is that the sand confuses him because the moment we get back to solid, paved ground, he promptly pees (and poos). For those of you lucky enough to have sandy spots nearby, what do your pets do . . . or not do when they get there?

Brando will do his business on the sand. He'll also do it on the pavement as long as he has the choice between pavement and grass. But the moment I took him into a big city with no grass around- he downright refused to do it on the pavement. When we found a patch of grass he practically got down and kissed it while he did his business. So weird
1B-Bop LOVES the beach so has NO problemo going there. In fact I think he prefers it! he also loves digging in sand!
2Bella & Harlow would not go potty on the beach when we went this last weekend. Then as soon as we got to some grass, they both went. I think they were just confused by the sand. Maybe the more we go, the more comfortable they'll become =)
3Wyatt is the least picky dog ever.
4Gatsby and i take a walk to the beach pretty much every night...it is definitely one of his favorite spots to go.
5As a New Yorker I don't really get to the beach. After being on vacation in CA I was really missing Hope and wished she could get to experience Venice Beach. But what's going on with the eyes of dog in the pic..I was immediately drawn to them and began to feel really bad.
6my poor dog drank a lot of salt water and got sick on it...she had to go A LOT last time we went to the beach!
