I was kind of at a loss when I saw this pic of a Westie outside of the Republican National Convention – talk about a serious dye job! I'm hoping that the owner of this pooch used a pet safe dye on his dog, since using human grade hair color, or even food coloring can be super harmful to your pets' skin!

Although I would never do this to North, what do you think about dyeing your pet's fur?

I wouldn't dye my baby's fur...but I do want to paint her nails!
1That's so sad and horrible! The dog looks completely freaked out!!! Plus he looks like a backwards french flag, poor thing :'(
2what heartless person would do this to their dog?!? seriously...
3Cruel.
4cruel!!!! That is just ridiculous.
5if i was dog with my fur looking like that i'd have really low self esteem and refuse to go out of the house... or i'd want revenge and chew all my owner's shoes
6That's totally cruel and ridiculous!!
7How can someone have such a terrible idea?!
how humiliating.
8Honestly if it doesn't harm the dog I don't really have a problem with it. The groomers that I take my dogs to always dyes her dogs fur (although I've never seen her face dyed, only her ears, body and tail).
I personally would probably never do it to my pooch though.
9No, my dogs red merle fur is beautiful.
10Hey, a dye job could be better than some of the stupid outfits that people make their pets wear...
11this makes me ill. I have a westie and their skin is VERY sensitive. I think people like that should have their pets taken away from them.
12It's OK if it doesn't harm them. But I don't really see the point and that dog does not look too happy.
13Although I would never color my dog's hair, as long as it doesn't harm them, I don't really see a problem with it.
14But, the whole body & face is a bit much.
I can see like, tips of the tail or ears, but not the entire body.
"what heartless person would do this to their dog?!? seriously..."
The same kind of person that would advocate invading a country that had never attacked us, and would let thousands of people drown in a hurricane. Obama/Biden '08
15Cruel. It's like dyeing you child's hair to look cutesy and, in this case, patriotic. Find a new way to make a statement about yourself and let it involve YOUR body!
16I don't think it is cool or cruel (if you use pet safe dye), but I DO think it's RIDICULOUS!! I would never do this to my pet!
17For some people, I could see a temporary, wash-out, for a costume or something but NEVER around the face.
18My dog's coloring is so pretty though, I could never do it.
WHY?!?!?? >:|
19dzymzlzy - I love you.
...but then, I think it's fine. Dog looks cool and if it were my dog she'd LOVE all the extra attention she got. Course, she's a boxer so it'll never happen.
crystal tomlin26 - even if it's vegetable dye?
20that is so awful
21what the fk?
22i dont think coloring dogs hair is bad but that pic is a HORIBLE job lol at least do it classy
23I accidently dyed a cat blue when I was a kid with excessive bluing when I was giving him a bath. I felt bad about it even though the cat wasn't hurt.
Here in Boulder a salon owner has dyed her poodle pink with beet juice for Breast Cancer awareness for a while and was fined $1,000 this past year. You apparently can't dye critters here.
24I feel very sorry for that dog!
25that is so cruel, i can understand if its not hurting the dog but i still wouldn't do it to my doggie.
26maybe some animals want to be different.
27what the hek is wrong with u people? that dog looks proper bad ass! and if u nis all saying that it is so cruel then i wandered if someone wouldn't mind telling me exactly why? its not like the dog is being harmed at all and it can hardly be humiliated when it spends half his life sniffing around other dogs ass' and crapping in public, my Alsatian looks the dogs bo!lox with neon green fur and especially when she wears her bright pink underwear sunglasses and one white glove, u haters are just boring but still quite happy to be so judgemental on somebody's sense of adventure and individuality, your basically all just wet blankets and need to sort it out! Hold it up Pikey Raver
28nuff said!!!
29I want to dye my dog fur white and i dont think anything is wrong with that but everyone has their opinions. As long as its safe dye then people can do what they wnt with their dog. I am becuz hell I paid for my dog, not peple and Im gon do what I want as long as shes loved and treated correct.
30There is no reason why there should be a need to dye your animal, regardless if the dye is pet safe. The picture above is just ridiculous. I mean, you adopt the animal because you want to take care of him or her and love him or her, not to have another "object" for you to toy with.
31oh man, i really want to dye animals with natural and harmless dyes, and i think it should be fine (i'd talk to a vet first, of course) - not cruel hahaha that's a silly accusation! but everything in moderation, right? i think what bothers me about this picture (besides that this dog looks like a rocket Popsicle!) is that it really looks like he might have been dunked in the red dye head first. even if that's not the case, it's way too close to his eyes for it to have been a comfortable process. don't get political about this tho, for goodness sakes - it has nothing to do with liberal or conservative. this is about dogs. get a grip!
32Wow, really? why would it be cruel if its pet safe dye? like ohhmygodd the dogs hurting. people are lammeee.
