My dog is small, and she doesn't jump very often anyway, but if she did I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Not unless I could see that the person she was jumping on did not like it. But most of the time she is just cute and people encourage her to jump more or pick her up.

Axle is really bad for jumping, and we're working on it. If someone really doesn't want him to jump up though, I tell them to either turn their body from him, or to lift their knee.

Newton on the other hand only stands about a foot tall when he's jumping, so I'm not really bother by his jumping, because even on small kids he's smaller and will have to work hard to knock them down.

Joe is a big boy and is not allowed to jump on people. Luckily he is good about not jumping up on people. My husband has trained Joe to jump up and put his paws on his shoulders when he snaps his fingers (they are face to face when Joe does this), but that's the only people jumping allowed.

Boxers jump... it's what they do. Believe me, I have a boxer and I have never encountered another that does not jump. They also love to give kisses.

We constantly have to tell our Wheaten not to jump because we have a lot of kids on our block and while he's very friendly and loves meeting new people, he's just a little big and we don't want him to accidentally knock somebody over or anything... better safe than sorry, I guess.

This is one of my biggest problems with my dog. He is a jumper. I have to avoid people in the elevator so that he doesn't spring on them. Any tips for getting him out of this awful habit would be appreciated!

My Setter doesn't jump... because she's already so tall! But she does go around and around (and around! LOL) in circles, hitting your legs with her tail the whole time (because she's wagging it so hard).

Fleurfairy - when your dog is about to jump, put up your knee and sort of "knee" him in the chest. You can also invest in either a Halti collar that can help (it drags his nose down towards the ground), or a Pincher collar (I love my dog's pincher collar). GL!

Stella jumps at people she knows but she is getting better- she just gets so excited! She has never jumped on a child, though- she's very gentle with them.

After leaving my pup in the care of my friends for 10 days, I came back to find that she was a jumping machine! I truly do not like the jumping and correct her constantly. Her nails are hard and long and it results in my getting scratched. She is always doing it to strangers though which I abhor.

We work really hard to correct Wyatt's jumping problems. Everyone we know who comes to our house is a "dog person" who could care less if he jumps on them, but it bothers us. He's very highly strung (he's a dalmatian), and he gets carried away and wild. It's not really about the jumping, it's about having him run around the house like a psycho when he shouldn't be. When we adopted him from the rescue, he'd never been disciplined, and we've worked really hard to be consistent with him, but that's not always easy!
