Besides being home to several super cute animal shops, and pet-friendly people stores, I was stunned by the sheer number of places supplying a jar of yumyums by the cashier. While I can think of a few local spots that sell or offer pet treats by the check out, it's definitely not the norm. How is it in your city – can you get dog cookies with your coffee?

I see that at some stores, but not necessarily coffee places. At coffee places and a lot of stores, they sit a water bowl OUTSIDE. To me, that's a nice little message encouraging you to leave your dog outside, not to bring it in. Fine by me; I really don't like having people's dogs by me, wagging their tails by food and drink or brushing against merchandise. Fur does fly...and that's kind of gross, especially in small shops with lots of people cramped inside.
1There's nothing like that around here!
2That's so cute and such a good idea by the way!
I don't know of any coffee shops, but when I drove through the Chick-fil-a with my dog, they gave him a treat.
3My local coffee shop (Good News Cafe in Oakland) has dog treats a waterbowl outside and will let you come in with your pooch to place your order. But that's pretty common in the bay area.
4I've never seen that at coffee shops, but at Valvoline where I used to get my oil changed, they have dog treats when your dog is in the car with you!
5I work at a drive-thru coffee shop and we offer treats to every dog that comes through. There are a few dogs (like an awesome mutt named Cleo) that I got to know before their owners or their owners' drinks! There's even a cute rat terrier who always tries to climb from her car into our shop window. Speaking of coffee shop dogs, my boss just got a tiny white smooth-coat Chihuahua! The dogs are my favorite part about working there and they know the treats are coming as soon as they pull up, they're always about falling out the car window by the time they get to us.
6not any coffee shops that i know of, but a cupcake shop in town has "pupcakes."
7I'm finding more and more drive thrus and gas stations have treats for the pups that come through. At Tim Hortons (a Canadian Coffee/Donut chain) they have tim bits (doughnut holes) for the dogs, they're just plain, but Axle and Newton both praticallly crawl out of their skin when we go through the drive thru. They both love it!
