Happy Fourth of July! I've shared my tips to prep pets for firecrackers, but for those of you who can hear them from your homes, are your pets ever affected?

one of my dogs get very anxious and scared. my sisters do does too, and when she was in Taiwan and her dog with my parents (we can do fireworks here in front of the house), she got him some sedatives from the vet to help. I plan on giving one to my dog tonight. We say that it's them getting their "margarita" they just become so mellow!
1Haha--margarita!
My old golden retriever was so bad that we also had to get him sedatives. One 4th of July years ago he got stuck under a bed in the house he was so scared! But, that same summer we brought him to a kennel when we were away on vacation and gave them the sedatives in case there were bad storms, well we got back and the whole bottle was gone! Of course we never brought him to a kennel again, and I'm not sure we ever got those sedatives!
2terrified
3This will be our cat's first 4th, so I'm sure how she'll be, put she gets scared by loud sounds so I'm sure she'll be terrified.
4Oops! **I'm NOT sure how she'll be**
5My new baby Scarlett isn't afraid. I think it is because we live near the Navy Pier and so she is desensitised to them. (they have fireworks every Weds. and Sat.)
6It will be Stifler's and Chloe's first 4th of July. I'm not sure how Chloe will respond, she doesn't seem to be afraid of anything. Stifler on the other hand, he hates all loud noises, they scare him. With the vaccuum cleaner, he runs under the bed
. Chloe tries to chase it and play
with it.
7My big rough and tough dogs turned into chickens last year, my big black and red chow chows ended up shaking on my lap and crying!! lol it was hillarious and cute!!!
8We have firecrackers going off all weekend long in my neighborhood. My poor little dog doesn't like them at all. I'm trying to keep music on for him. I'd forgotten how much it bothers him
9Sadie becomes a nervous wreck when fireworks are going off. Hutch could not care less... which is kind of strange since he's normally scared of every thing.
10Off topic, but I think it's the cutest thing ever... yesterday I put broccoli in their food, and when Hutch was done I noticed that he picked each piece of broccoli out and set it by his bowl. He is such a little boy
Thankfully, Oliver doesn't seem to be bothered by fireworks. He didn't react last year. This year a few numbnuts neighbors have been setting them off every night for the past week and he's been consistant. What really freaks him out is someone knocking at the door. He crouches low to the floor and shimmies and shakes his wide tushie under the bed!
11Auggie and Sammy bark back at the fireworks, I'm not sure what they think it is, but they like to bark at the noise. My parents dog has to be sedated otherwise he shakes uncontrollably the same way he shakes during thunderstorms. The cats all hide under beds until the noise stops, or if they are outside they disappear for awhile, not sure to where though!
12B-Bop cold care less. This year we're watching from far away (driving up a mt to see the whole valley) which should be fun. We'll bring popcorn and hot chocolate! Yay!
13My dog Rosie is shaking right next to me as I type this. She won't even go outside to go potty while they're happening...poor girl! I never even thought about giving her sedatives, but I would seriously think about it for next year. She's been a nervous wreck for the past two days, and it breaks my heart...
14It's awful... Sadie is curled up in the bath tub now(she never even goes into the bathroom normally). I feel so bad for her. Hutch is sprawled out on the floor without a care in the world lol.
15Just got through the city fireworks, here. Oliver was happily oblivious. I just checked on him and he's sleeping, drooling, and snoring like a lumberjack with his gi-normous man boobs fully unfurled for all the world to admire. *shaking head*
16This was the first year I had Holly, my mini Aussie. She could have cared less about the fireworks! We even walked outside and watched some and she didnt care!
But we set off some roman candle fireworks and she got a little excited and ran around, but never got scared.
17When I got home last night, my poor cat was hiding behind my dresser because he was so scared. After about an hour he came back out there.
18Every one of my babies hate 'em!!
19One of my dogs is terrified, she'll start shaking and hiding anywhere she can. She gets close to me and tries to hide her face below my arms or anywhere really. My other dog is the complete opposite, she'll start barking and running around the house until she gets tired of it and just ends up ignoring them. I once tried to give my dog something for her nerves, but I felt so bad for her. She seemed all sleepy, but when she heard the fireworks again she would try to get up and her legs where shaky.
20my dogs hide in the closets all the way on the corner, they're so scared!!
21My animals always jump when they hear a bang, but they don't freak TOO much. Usually they hide in the basement during fireworks so they don't have to hear them so loudly.
22We haven't encountered fireworks, but I'm sure Viva will be scared. She is very frightened by thunder.
23malano for the fourth of july wasnt scared but he sure looked confused that night!!!
