North's sixth birthday is Friday and I've been deliberating about his party for weeks! Although I love lavishing him with presents all the time – that he loooooves ripping open – he last partied it up big time on his very first birthday.
Since I'm no stranger to helping friends with their doggies and cats, I'll be sharing my pet birthday ideas in a series this week. Before I get started, I'm curious to hear your words of wisdom if you've ever thrown (or attended) a party for your furry friends?

I've never really thrown a real party for Polka's BDay but every year, on 25th august, I buy some special things she loves to eat, and then make a great meal for her!
1And I always buy her 1 or 2 new toys!!
No... Not yet.. Belle does turn 1 in October! First time for everything!
2B-Bop turns 2 next week 6/26 so I'll bake him a cake. Last year we did that then went to the dog beach. Sadly, dog beach is too far, but we'll have a fun day!
3Yes, I have. Toby Roo is now 2 1/2 years old. His birthday is around mine so we have a combo birthday. I think it works out because then we invite family and friends. Some of his pals came over and had some doggie birthday cake. I was able to make some doggie bags with dog treats and toys. it was a blast. If you have any questions feel free to message me.
4karebear that's awesome! i haven't thrown a party for max, but we have a family gathering for his birthday..maybe semantics..but i don't send invites and that sort of thing..
5pet- that picture of north is precious!
6OMG, that picture of North is too cute! Brando's first birthday is in a week and I plan on making a cake, getting him some tough toys that he (hopefully) won't destroy right away, and giving him some of his favorite rawhides and chewies. And maybe we'll sneak down to the doggie beach this weekend.
7I have thrown several party's for our pooches! I make canine treats and we grill hamburgers and hot dogs for them. We invite over their doggy buddies and their human parents. We have hats and banners, and lots of game playing. It's a great way to celebrate their special day and spend time with your friends also. We put on the whole spread, just like a cocktail party for friends, but with canine friendly appetizers. They absolutely love it! Our last party was for my 14 year old Rottie mix, we had over 12 canine guests and 7 'parents'. Everyone had a great time and the pooches tuckered themselves out. We have treat bags for everyone that we hand out when it's time to open presents, that way the guests are entertained while the birthday dog opens gifts. The day is well worth the investment, it is truly alot of fun! ( For everyone)
8My boys have birthdays in the same month so I figured out the date equally between the two and we celebrate on that day. I had a puppy shower at my house when I got Sampson, which resulted in a broken leg, so now we go to the dog park with lots of treats and celebrate with everyone there (and of course no one gets treats without their parents permission!)
9We celebrate by taking the dogs out to a restaurant near us that not only serves people food but serves dog food as well. Fresh chicken and hamburger with veggies, they love it! (and it looks pretty good too!!) Not only that they bring them out a little birthday treat for desert.
10For Dooneys bday this yr. [march 23] We took picture next to his cake and than I gave him Vanilla Icecream. He loved it.
11I gave my cat a birthday party... and we'll do it for our other two for sure. I made her a funny little cake (ham frosted in sugar-free peanut butter!) and a party hat. The photos were awesome.
12Yes! I just threw a 1st birthday party for my Clooney two weekends ago at a doggie day care place near where I live in VA. I invited 7 other dogs and some family/friends and it was so much fun. I had party favors with Clooney's favorite treats and baked "pupcakes" for the pooches. The dogs ran around for 2.5 hours and were completely pooped afterwards -- a nice present for me!
