When I lived in NYC, North could have chalked up quite the frequent flier miles as we flew home to my parents' house several times a year on JetBlue, back when it was just $50 each way. Nowadays, we usually travel in the car or on public transportation, but North's still got his puppy wings ready for the next vacay. With the increasing cost of fuel, those upcoming Summer road trips – and plane trips – can be few and far between. How often have your pets traveled on an airplane (sedated or not) and do you have any flights in the works for your furry friends?

B-Bop's only flown once and the poor guy was freaked out. Half the trip was on one of those noisy small planes and I think he was scared.
1None of my pets have ever flown!
2They go on lots of car rides but that's all!
None of my dogs have ever flown. I don't know if I could put the big guy all by his lonesome in the cargo, so I doubt he will ever fly. If the little guy's allowed to fly with me in the cabin, then I'm willing to take him. He's only 10lbs, and has a carrier, so I'm assuming he's allowed.
Both boys get lots of long road trips out to the mountains though, which they love, because they get to spend the day at daycare (so they're crashed when we leave) and then when we get there they get to play in the HUGE backyard!
Lucky little buggers!
3often, if we're going to be gone more than 5 days, it's cheaper to pay the $80 American Airlines charges than the boarding fees!
4We took Brando back to NY for 2 weeks this past Christmas. He was perfectly fine in the cargo, he just barked his face off during take off and you could totally hear him from the inside of the plane. It was so embarrassing! But he calmed right down once we were in the air (at least we couldn't hear him anymore) and when in the car on the way home from the airport he just hopped out of the crate and snuggled onto my lap for the ride. He didn't seem traumatized at all- he just missed me. And he loved being in NY with us because he got to meet the fam and play with all his puppy cousins
5My dog flies with my at least 2 times a year. Last year it was 4 trips. Those fees really add up. Yeah, it's cheaper than boarding him, but still... Our next trip is in August to my family cabin
6I brought Aiko, my cat, all the way back from Tokyo to the US when I moved back. Since she was born in Japan, she had never traveled very far before, except to the vet about 10 minutes away. I was scared to death on how she was going to handle the trip, but I took her as my carry-on and she did great! She was so quiet and no one even knew I had her. Security at Narita was even great; they didn't make me take her out of her Sherpa, they just looked inside at her and let me go. Once I was back in the states, it was a whole other story. Customs in Los Angeles took FOREVER, so much so that if my flight hadn't been delayed I would have seriously missed it. Unfortunately that caused me to miss my flight in Dallas to go to my parent's house in Tampa, so we ended up staying the night in Dallas. I hadn't brought any food for her, since the vet told me not to feed her on the flight and my mom had her Science Diet waiting for her at their house. I got a grilled chicken salad and tried to give her some of the chicken, but she had no desire to eat. Haha, I also had to sneak her into a hotel room....she was definitely my partner in crime, but she did so great! I'm so proud of my little girl for being so brave.
7My cat has play dates with his friend across town, but he's never been on a plane.
