One sunny May Sunday in NYC, shortly before North's first birthday, I was doing some shopping of my own when I saw a pretty white eyelet skirt. Now did I need this item? No, definitely not. But did I want it? Absolutely. I remember desperately searching for a reason to justify such an impractical purchase (white being not the most ideal color to wear on dirty subway rides or walks with muddy-pawed pups), yet I couldn't. I was about to leave the store and decided to call my mom to wish her a Happy Mother's Day, and take my mind off the skirt, when it hit me. I could buy myself the skirt, but consider it a Mother's Day pressie from my lil pooch. Admittedly, I've never done it after that first time back in 2003, but it seemed like a brilliant idea at the time. Am I alone here? If you've ever considered – or bought – a "present" for yourself from your pet with your money (obvs), tell me what and when in your comments below.

Never occured to me!
1no...........
2I think it's deserved! You love and care for North all year long and consider yourself his mommy - why not celebrate with a special treat?
3No, but there are always presents under the Christmas tree for me from my cats (my mom and husband help them shop)
4My Boyfriend and my mom always have presents for me (i.e Christmas, birthdays and Mother's Day) with my dog's names on it. I have never bought myself something but I do get presents form them
5I've never gotten a mother's day gift from my pooches, but I think this year I will consider a painting I got done of my little Newton as a mother's day gift. If he were to get it for me, I would of thought it was the best gift ever.
At christmas I usually get presents from my k9's, but my mom helps them out, as wrapping a present without opposable thumbs is hard.
6i never thought of it, but its a cool idea!!
7I've never thought of it, either. I love j4everlasting's idea. I've been wanting to get a painting done of my little guy
8My husband makes sure that our pups have something for me at all holidays including mother's day. To us it makes sense, I mean we do refer to ourselves as Mommy and Daddy in regards to the dogs.
This year's gift...a treat pouch for agility class!
9No, but my husband got me a Mother's Day card from them last year! I thought it was cute!
10usually I send my parents cards from the boys and my mom has for the last couple of years sent me a card or a gift from the dogs...its fun b/c its always a surprise and who doesn't love those!!
xo
11Buy myself something from my dog?
12Nope.
No. I'd never thought of it. But now that I KNOW, what a perfect reason!
13I'll be getting a puppy soon, so next year baby!!
14no. but one year i sent a funny mother's day card to a friend from her cat and she still doesn't know who sent it
on the outside it said "mom tell me the truth" and when you opened it "am i adopted?"
15I did last year but my husband asked me to pick something out
16I don't buy one for myself, but I buy one for my mom from the dog.
17Even if I did, I'd never admit to it!
18ha! That's funny, lickety!
19I never thought of it! And considering the amount of horses I had its a shame.. But my boyfriend did wish me happy mothers day from my new kitten Bella
:D
20No presents for me, but my husband did make me breakfast this morning for being his "doggy baby mama". I'm a lucky girl:).
21My boyfriend bought me a new handbag from my cat for Mother's Day for being a great kitty mama
22The thought never occurred to me
