I caught this video while putting in some serious Internet surfing time, and it got me wondering how many other cats are fearless like this guy! Cats are known for their balance, grace, and their uncanny ability to land on their feet, but I didn't know they were adrenaline junkies as well! The saying goes: cats have nine lives, but are yours just begging to use some of them?

haha well mine knows she will probably get in trouble
1She's not allowed on the couch and counters and stuff...
My cat is afraid of everything, which is okay with me! I would have been freaking out if that was my cat in the video.
2my poor cat was doing the exact same thing in the video and she ended up falling 2 stories! that was the end of going on the deck for her!!!
3My cat has done that on a the railing on the stairs, on the second story where it's even. We had to block off the second story indoor balcony because the cats were posing to jump from it and there is a brick fireplace under it, not to mention floor.
Cats land on their feet because of their design, not because of skill--and it is dangerous to let them/allow them to jump or fall from anything greater than six feet. Look it up; I looked it up when I first adopted my cats. There's also a condition coined 'high-rise syndrome'. Cats can't comprehend high spaces, or that they will die or get hurt by falling from them.
The cat in the video could have died or been seriously injured. Also, I feel soooo sorry for cats that aren't allowed to live in their own homes, but instead have to live around their 'owners'.
4Oh, my cat also fell off the railing and hasn't been back on it since.
Fortunately
for him, it wasn't a big fall because he fell onto carpeted steps. If that had been a balcony...yikes! He LOVED to balance, though. I think it would be beneficial for any cat to have a prop
on which he can 'play' balance--sort of like a cat tree lets them climb. That way they can act out instinct, but safely.
5I'm with you MandyJoBo. I wouldn't let my cat walk around on a ledge or a fence higher than 6 feet or so. Years ago, my dad's cat fell from the 14th story. She survived (actually she just passed away this year. She was 21.) but broke a lot of bones.
6My cat loves to climb, but she's afraid of a lot of things, too...so she's not so much fearless as a cat who just likes climbing things. Like me, for instance, along with my computer keyboard, the inside of the window, my laundry hamper, my dresser...you get the picture.
7this is kind of sick.. if you look around they seem to be extremely high up.. i would not let my cat do that ever
8bubba used to be somewhat fearless but hes getting older now and is more mellow
