Although no one is quite sure why catnip has the effect it does on some cats, it sure does make them happy! My BFF's cat has been known to completely ignore us (which is unusual for the feline) while rolling around on the floor and salivating while he plays with his fave catnip ball. Although it never lasts too long, the few minutes he's under the spell is pretty entertaining for us as well!
I really love these Catnip Plush Birds ($16) by ItchyKnee, which are hand stitched and stuffed with organic catnip. And what cat wouldn't feel the same?! Chasing birds, catnip, and a catnap has to be a pretty awesome way to spend an afternoon . . . if you're a cat. But hey, even I don't mind the sound of that!

My cat's not affected at all by catnip. I'm so bummed, I couldn't wait to see him drunk on catnip!
1I should get this for my boyfriend's cat.
2My Oliver doesn't give a rip about catnip...probably because any effect would cause him to have to actually expend energy! He has a catnip banana that he hugs and uses as a body pillow during his nappy time....which is pretty much 20 hours per day!
