I was so sad to hear about the death of one of Oprah's beloved spaniels, Sophie, from kidney failure [1]. While it's certainly difficult to lose a dog of any age and at any time, her pooch lived to a ripe ol' 13 and was truly a valued "child" in the household — and at the Harpo production company [2].
