After working through a list of my favorite animal movies, I realized there were a lot of great films I couldn't include in the top 10 — from Homeward Bound to 101 Dalmatians, there are many classics I simply love to watch again and again. Because it's nearly impossible to come up with them all on my own, I want you to share your favorite movies in your comments below. All I ask is that there is an animal playing a fairly large part in the movie, and next week I'll create a new list of all our fave flicks!

Opening Ceremony
Bourjois
C&A
Milo & Otis!! I loved it as a child and I still love it today.
It's what made me fall in love with pugs.
1Scratch that, Milo & Otis is my second favourite. The Secret of NIMH is #1. IMO, it's one of the best movies ever made, not just the best animal film.
2Ratatouille!
3Gremlins!
4I'm not gonna lie, I've seen Eight Below like 12 times.
5In addition to Babe, which you already listed, I would also submit White Fang.
6Lady and the Tramp.
7I too love Lady and the Tramp! I also love the Incredible Journey and Beethoven. And The Lion King
8You've already got my faves: Babe and Milo & Otis!!
9And I do like Madagascar.
101 Dalmations is my FAVORITE!!! Dunston Checks In also made me want a monkey very badly when I was little.
10Yay, I'm so glad to find other Milo and Otis fans - whenever I mention it to my friends, they look at me like I'm crazy! And I still kind of love the Lion King too.
11The Lion King and The Aristocats (used to have a cat named Thomas O'Malley the Alley cat!!
) are my favorites
Does the Little Mermaid count... at least 1/2 way count?! lol
after all she is 1/2 fish
right?
12Martin watched eight below.........he got scared when the sea lions were under the ice and he cried when they got rescued............too, too sweet
13UNDERDOG! OMG my son talked me into watching that this weekend, and what an adorable sweet movie!
14OH! And Cats & Dogs!
15Because of Winn Dixie, Beethoven, Lady and the Tramp, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, The Ugly Dachshund, That Darn Cat, 101 Dalmatians
16Fox and the Hound, Wizard of Oz, Rescuers, Cinderella, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Ice Age, Follow That Bird (with Big Bird!), Mulan, Oliver and Company, and Disney's Robin Hood.
Some great classics are Bringing Up Baby and Harvey.
Oh, and All Dogs Go To Heaven.
17Oh, and Winnie the Pooh. You should do a post on great animal books too!
18Eight Below! . . . it was the first movie my dog watched all the way through, lol.
19Shaggy Dog. The original! Forget about that one too.
20• Oh Heavenly Dog (1980) –starring Benji, Chevy Chase and Jane Seymour. A private investigator dies and is sent back as a dog to investigate his own murder.
• The Great Outdoors (1988)- You have bears and talking raccoons, perfect combo.
• The Adventures of the Wilderness family (1975) its about a family who has a sick daughter so they move out of the crowded city and into the wilderness, If you were a child of the 70’s you will remember this fondly. They acquire a lot of pets.
• The Bear (1988) about an orphan bear who hooks up with an older bear to survive. Got an oscar nod
• The Yearling (1946) One of the first movies I remember that made me cry as a child, and want to live in the woods!
